I wonder how many software developers will want to use the tech? View

I've heard good things about Viva Pinata...but not my thing, I don't think. It's great the 360 has such a good variety of good games that will appeal to people though. View

@ meemoopmeep

LOL. The analogy wars are most amusing. I have to agree with you here (sorry Breakfast): the big problem MS has had with the 360 is the reliability issue. They better learn their lesson from this gen's issues!! View

Yeah the PS2 has survived a lot longer than I would have predicted...it has done well to keep getting software support.

However, the reason it does well is it is CHEAP. Now that the 360 is cheaper, that should make a big difference to those on the fence. View

I think there are US records and then there are European and Australian and Worldwide records....and that's not counting software to console attach rate records, etc. etc.

Oh and my favourite record: total sales dollars (which is stupid because some consoles cost more!) View

I don't know...If I was on the fence, with a low disposable income, I'd go 360 in a heartbeat with a price cut. Mind you I wouldn't buy the arcade version... View

@ GOTY 2007:

It's interesting all the reports that this price drop is aimed at the Wii sales over the PS3s. It's an interesting idea, especially with the copying of the Miis and the possibility of the remote for Christmas.

And before anyone goes off about copying: everyone copies everyone in the console industry. It makes sense business-wise.

All this does put some pressure on Sony to lower the price of the PS3...but can it? Have all the real big Sony fans already purchased the PS3? View

I look at it more like: everyone can love what console they want. I'd like to know the % of gamers who have all three like me who have a preference. If you can only have 1 console, of course you will support that console. View

I have all three consoles but I still play the most games on my 360, and that's despite being on my fourth. I use the PS3 for blu ray and exclusives, and I barely touch my Wii at all.

I wonder why I don't play the multi-platform games on the PS3, but I just don't like the controller and the loading and the colours/ shadows seem richer on the 360.

I don't like to start flame wars, but each person is entitled to their preferences. There's no doubt that Sony has some great titles like MGS4 and Uncharted (and I love the fact it sucks discs in instead of using a tray!!!), but overall the 360 is my #1 for gaming. View

Though I'm all for new IPs, I really hope they go back to doing Eternal Darkness 2!!! I liked the bit about the 'auteur'. I think, though MGS4 was a brilliant game (when you actually got to play) the 'auteur' did the same thing and got in the way with a whole lot of self-indulgence.....especially with the cut scenes. A better edited version would have been perfection.

His MGS4 review points this out too... View

Here's a quote from Peter Molyneux about the length of the game:

"If you just play through the core story and don't mind finishing the game as a poor lonely and unpopular hero (having ignored a large number of side quests) then I'd estimate 15-20 hours. Depending on how you play the time will, of course, vary but if you're a completist I'd multiply that basic time by five." View

The main quest isn't everything....that is unless all the side quests are boring. I enjoyed many of Oblivion's side quests even more. Open-world games aren't meant to be beat in X number of hours. They are meant to let you explore.

Though I admit some games aren't as fun to explore as others... View

Maybe if you kill all the guards you'd have a defenseless town that is over-run by bandits and when you next visit it will be abandoned? It would be incredible if the game's AI did that sort of advanced thinking.... View

Well if you want to get all technical, 3D gaming doesn't really exist either as it is all on a flat screen...it is the illusion of 3 dimensions during gameplay.

Interesting argument about 4d and time....So are you saying the whole theory of the 4th dimension being time is wrong? View

I can't wait to see towns evolve from little settlements and going back places and seeing them look so different. Still not sure about the dog thing, but the family dynamic is exciting. View

Molyneux has been careful in interviews about not 'promising' things he can't show. The co-op aspect alone will make this great, but the idea that the world changes over time and not in some scripted way, is amazing.

I agree with the article. View
