MGS1 - Fair. Played it last year, still a gem. The limiting factors of the gameplay are part of what makes it so compelling.
MGS2 - Underrated, and criminally so. Most people seem to bash the game simply because Raiden was the main and not Snake. That's complete BS. This game outclassed the first one in every conceivable way, from characters, gameplay to storytelling, cutscenes, the whole nine yards. Amazing game.
MGS3 - Fair. Best of the bunch by a long shot. So many different ways to play, you really had to survive and overcome in this game, which is among the reasons why I loved it.
MGS4 - Vastly overrated. While a very good game, and arguably one of the best of last year, still doesn't measure up to the prior 3 masterpieces. The gameplay was a step or two back from MGS3, and the whole idea of purchasing weapons and ammo was just lame. Killed what was a big chunk of the survival aspect. Great conclusion regardless, tied up many loose ends, and it was nice to see all of the memorable characters played so well.
