I was kidding. Personally, I couldn't care less, so long as I still get to play the games. View

"it's called a beta for a reason"
Newsflash artistadam: Beta means it's damn near done.

I don't where this school of thought came from that insists upon the final release of games being DRASTICALLY different from their betas. Sorry to burst your bubble, but things in life don't work that way. You don't just conjure up exponential increases in quality and content when it's close to the time for a products release, just doesn't happen.

Killzone 2 was just like it's beta, so was Resistance 2, Warhawk, and scores of other games. The best anyone can hope for between beta and gold is bug fixes and the game running smoothly. View

Wow...this blogger is trying HARD.
Those are some of the most ridiculous pretenses I've seen yet.

Talk about hanging on by a thread. With these price drops, it seems that the rest of the world is leaving this petty fanboy nonsense behind. Not this individual apparently. View

Some 10th Anniversary...falls flat on it's face.
This franchise died a while ago. These games have been the same since 2K7, fundamentally. An engine rewrite is a must, and I don't even wanna touch the issue of annual rehashes.

Sadly, until the market responds in kind, sports games will never see the kind of production value and attention to detail that they need and deserve. I pray for the day that a developer like Polyphony digital gears up and crafts a true basketball sim, working on the game for as long as it takes to ensure a quality release, with downloadable roster updates every season.

Although I do indeed think that 2K is the best of all the basketball games out, the other two are so disastrous that they aren't even worth mentioning. In this case, being the best only means that you're marginally better than the crap to the left and the right. To me, that doesn't cut it.

I don't want an arbitrary best of three bad games, I want one quality experience. View

A list like this seems to come out every few days.
And they typically list the same games. It's just getting old by now. View

I hope that ALL of this is true.
The initial SF games have all typically been great, but the revisions always improved upon them. Nearly everything in that list is to my liking, particularly with respect to Guile gaining the Sonic Hurricane...he really needs a decent Super/Ultra.

I'm a first day buyer if this all rings true. View

New Wii? Nope. Motion impact? I concur.
A new Wii so early would be suicide on Nintendo's part. With the original achieving such good market penetration and still a popular product, what are developers supposed to do? Create HD versions of current and future Wii games? Not likely.

The next Nintendo machine won't be ready until it's ready. Far too many "experts" and analysts keep coming to their conclusions as if this is the PC market. It isn't, and it won't be, ever.

For the motion argument, I'm inclined to agree. I feel that both products offer cool alternatives to motion control, but the fact of the matter is, unless either company drums up a product as compelling as either DDR, Guitar Hero, or Rock Band, these external peripherals won't sell. Their best bet is to include them with the system at launch. Otherwise, if they're bundled with a game, people will associate them with said game and forget about them.

Once again, I think that both products offer great solutions, but the market just won't respond to them. View

Not gonna happen.
Games are taking way longer to produce these days, not to mention higher costs and larger teams in today's volatile market.

Even though we're 4 years deep, this generation still seems like it's in its infant stages IMO. It just hasn't had the impact on me at this point that other generations did at similar stages in their life.

I'm betting on 2015 at the earliest. If a blockbuster game starts production tomorrow, it won't be out for another 2-3 years. This isn't the PSone days. With an average like that, smaller, yet pivotal dev houses will only have produced 2-3 titles for the console's life cycle. I don't see developers and hardware manufacturers alike allowing that to happen. View

Does it really matter?
This is an internet list, not too much different from those that came before it or those that will inevitably come after.

We're not dealing with an engrossing plot here. View

I wouldn't be surprised if it did.
Let's face it, UE3 blew most everyone away when it was first revealed.

I remember being in awe when I saw the first screen of UT3 on the cover of a magazine. I was in disbelief.

Of course, the shortcoming came to light shortly thereafter, but it still stands that many folks were colored impressed upon release.

My main concern is whether or not they will be able to make up for all of the areas that UE3 was lacking in. View

I DO NOT want Bale to play Snake.
The man is a completely wooden actor, I liken him to Keanu Reeves. Make no mistake about it, these two gentlemen somehow manage to land roles in some pretty spectacular features, but they themselves are average actors at best IMO. I would much rather see an actor that can portray the type of edgy persona that defines Snake. Jason Statham would be a better pick, but not quite. View

Also said it about Deadly Alliance...also garbage...

I'd like to see the next one set in Jamaica,
where people are politically radical, extremely violent, militant and yet extremely dependable as well. It was the murder capital of the world some years ago, and being a tropical island, it would make for some beautiful locales, as well as depicting the gritty, poverty-stricken slums peppered throughout the island.

Moscow would be my second choice, while Vegas and London are too cliche, and Alabama just doesn't interest me at all. View

So let's say I gave you a game where you play with stick figures,
but it's called "NFL", or I give you backbreaker, are you still gonna pick that official NFL game before a BETTER GAME with no-names?

It's crazy how so many people have become commercialized zombies. View

So now we're at a point
where a "performance analysis" decides whether or not we're going to exhaust a machine. Nevermind getting into detail about how intensive, specific, or taxing this analysis was...it was analysis done by Crytek, so we ought to take that as the law.

As with anything else, I'll believe it when I see it. View

"N4G is used way too much by small time bloggers who feel the need to post their useless opinions to the masses"
Amen to that.

I think blogs of all types should be banned from this site. They really are much worse than forum posts, for how deceptive they are if nothing else. Far too many people look at every blog as some sort of official source, when in reality a brain-dead pre-teen could run a blog. That's all they literally are anyway...a web log of whatever asinine thoughts the blogger wants to dump into it.

Not to defend forum posts, but at least with those there's no mistaking that it's an average joe posting something suspect. The deceptive aspect of blogs makes them far too dangerous, especially with the volatile egos we've got running rampant on this site. View

Update huh...
Somebody oughta change that portion of the title to "speculation", and since it has no factual basis, drop the overzealous "MAJOR" part of it too. Let's also not forget that this has been speculated upon...scores of times before hand, so this...guess is nothing new or enlightening. View

IMHO, by each game
MGS1 - Fair. Played it last year, still a gem. The limiting factors of the gameplay are part of what makes it so compelling.

MGS2 - Underrated, and criminally so. Most people seem to bash the game simply because Raiden was the main and not Snake. That's complete BS. This game outclassed the first one in every conceivable way, from characters, gameplay to storytelling, cutscenes, the whole nine yards. Amazing game.

MGS3 - Fair. Best of the bunch by a long shot. So many different ways to play, you really had to survive and overcome in this game, which is among the reasons why I loved it.

MGS4 - Vastly overrated. While a very good game, and arguably one of the best of last year, still doesn't measure up to the prior 3 masterpieces. The gameplay was a step or two back from MGS3, and the whole idea of purchasing weapons and ammo was just lame. Killed what was a big chunk of the survival aspect. Great conclusion regardless, tied up many loose ends, and it was nice to see all of the memorable characters played so well. View

I'm still taken aback by how Street Fighter IV
completely pulled me away from Killzone 2. Killzone is just godly, but the unadulterated fun factor and satisfaction I get with Street Fighter is just second to none. SF4 is not perfect by any stretch...and it annoys me pretty thoroughly at times, but it's about as fun as it gets. View
