I would hardly call losing Alan Wake as a "blow to PC gamers" from what I have seen of it they have changed the game so much from the original brief that it looks like the kind of game that would just die on the PC anyway.

Now of course if you were talking Diablo or Starcraft going to the xbox 360 as exclusive then yeah that would be considered a "blow" (however Blizzard still have a bit of integrity left). To many PC gamers it isn't about actually losing Alan Wake, it is more about how low and desperate MS are getting.

As I said earlier one day MS is going to raid the PC cupboard and find it bare, I wonder what they will do then ? It is good to see companies like Bioware treating the PC on equal terms as the xbox 360 (something MS is on record as saying they hate happening).

However that isn't enough for me, I will wait to see what the reviews of Mass Effect 2 say, if the game has been given some depth and a decent number of story line missions then I will fork out for it. If they haven't made any improvements over the last one then hell Mass Effect 3 could become an xbox 360 exclusive for all I care. View

@ we won - give it up, I have been a PC gamer for nearly 20 years and even I accept the chances of us ever seeing Alan Wake on the PC are now close to zero. It is a proven fact MS couldn't give a flying crap about PC gaming other than as a resource they can raid to "add value" to their console.

If Alan Wake is a tremendous success on the Xbox 360 then MS will never allow it to come out on the PC. The reason being they want to get PC gamers using their console. If Alan Wake is a flop on the Xbox 360 then there will be very little incentive for the game to be ported to the PC. In short MS are calling the shots and they will quite happily let the PC take another bullet for their console. View

@ 7ero H3LL - Ah don't worry once MS has run PC gaming into the ground they will have nowhere to nick their "exclusives" from then will they ?

It will be interesting to see how the xbox copes without the creativity that the PC brings. So laud it up whilst you can about the xbox locking the PC out of games it will soon come to an end.

As for this trailer, I think they are going a bit overboard on the vids. We should have just been given a decent full length trailer (instead of that crappy CGI vid they did a couple of days ago) and then left us in suspense for the rest of the month.

Still not sure if I will get Mass Effect 2, I found the first one didn't really have any depth to it and was woefully inadequate gameplay wise with only 5 story missions. View

Killjoy3000 - how about you WAIT AND SEE eh ? I play Mass Effect maxxed out at 1680 x 1050 and never dip below 60fps. On those settings Mass Effect uses a woeful 50% of my Quadcore. So it is clear that they can easily push things higher on the PC.

I am not saying the xbox 360 version will look like this. However to dismiss that the PC version couldn't do graphics of this quality is ridiculous.

At the end of the day it looks good and I can't wait to play it. You just come across as someone trying to spoil the fun to be honest. If when the game comes out the graphics are "crap" then you can spout your opinion. View

"If you us think the final game will look like this you have another thin coming. I mean this game looks excellent for sure, but nowhere near Crysis"

What a silly thing to say, the screenshots are probably from the PC version which will undoubtedly look massively better than the Xbox 360 version. So there is no reason to doubt that these screenshots are representative of the final game if you are going to play it on the PC. View

Yeah PC gamers have known about this for 6 weeks now. Since the last patch Rockstar added the Lost and Damned achievements to the PC version. They also changed some of the game files in preparation for the DLC and added a new command line "-uninstall content" which apparently "uninstalls GFWL in game content".

If you then factor in the complete silence from Rockstar (ie no denial) and the fact that if anyone mentions the PC TLAD achievements on Rockstars site they get threatened, there is only one conclusion you can come too.

I used to be a massive GTA fan but right now the way Rockstar has treated the PC community makes me want to tell them where they can shove their DLC. The PC version of GTA 4 is horrendously broken and I am not about to give this childish company any more of my money. View

Erm guys I know GTA 4 is a crap port I wasn't talking about GTA 4 I was saying GTA SA wasn't that much better. It has just as many problems and was as badly optimised as GTA 4 is. However the difference is we had massively better machines over the consoles by the time GTA SA came out so it wasn't "as noticeable".

All the GTA ports to the PC have been absolutely atrocious so it makes me wonder why the guy doing this article feels GTA SA was a good port :-/

As for the $8,000 rubbish, yes GTA 4 is a crap port but it isn't that bad. I can pretty much max it out with a quad and a GTX260 and run it at 30fps on 1680 x 1050. I can assure you my PC did not cost me $8,000. View

How on earth did they come to the conclusion that GTA SA was a "good" port ? It was an absolute heinous port and only saved by the fact we had decent PC's by that time.

You just need to look at the requirements for GTA SA, a Pentium 4 processor, 512mbs of system ram and 128mbs of Video ram. All that to run a game that didn't look all that much better than the PS2 using just 300mhz and 32mbs of ram.

Then we just need to look at all the bugs and errors in the game from glaring bugs like missing signs and trucks missing whole wheels to ear killing audio bugs. I think we can safely say GTA SA is an absolute abomination of a port and the guy that did this article is a moron.

Now having said that I can at least run GTA SA at 1680 x 1050 at nearly 80fps. All it took was a quadcore and a GTX 260 yeah real fantastic port ............... not. View

A single player campaign would certainly get my interest up in this game again. As long as it wasn't a sorry pathetic 5 hour crapfest like MW2. I think a lot of companies concentrate way too much on MP these days and it is getting a little tiresome.

I miss the old days when the emphasis was on the single player campaign and Multiplayer was added as an extra bonus. This is probably partly why I don't buy many games anymore. In my experience the MP is giving too high a priority over SP. Now that is great if you are big MP fan but there are a lot of people that aren't they want an excellent single player experience with the ability to dip into multiplayer if the fancy takes them. I am afraid the masses didn't and I can understand why to be honest. Lack of content and depth + horrendous requirements then just to chuck absolutely no promotion into the mix, that really doesn't scream "mega sales". They might have gained a few more customers if they did a free weekend like steam does with TF 2.

When I first heard about SH I was so hyped for it and I was over the moon when I got into the beta for it. I was disappointed in so many ways by Shattered Horizons, I don't take pleasure in people losing their jobs though.

However these are tough times for everyone and if a company wants me to buy their product then it isn't enough to just release a glorified benchmark with MP tacked on with little content or variety. View

Seems like a simple enough request to me. I can't honestly see how it would take all that much work to change the colour of the friend/foe identifiers for colour blind people.

Unfortunately this is Activision and Infinity Ward we are talking about here. They have shown time and time again they honestly do not give a flying crap about their customers and what their customers want.

I don't think a petition is going to help these people get what they want. The best solution is to just never give these crooks your money ever again. View

I think what is more wow is the fact this is SEVEN years late. We have after all had games on demand for the PC since 2003 (even earlier if you count shareware like Doom).

At the end of the day another half hearted pathetic attempt at MS to do just enough NOT to help the PC but to try and hinder anyone else that might want to make a go of PC gaming.

The best thing MS can do now is kill GFWL and leave the PC market altogether but that isn't going to happen is it ? After all it's the PC OS that is bank rolling their console.

I won't be using GFWL on demand the prices are extortionate, the DRM draconian and the games are luck lustre and have no interest to me whatsoever. Well done MS on doing such a pathetic job of things seriously could you guys have got any lazier ? View

I love the way they headline these articles, I mean come on "should IW to the PC audience ?" How about a better and more accurate headline ? You know something along the lines of "should IW give customers what they want ?"

Hm lets see IW wants to sell software, you stand a damn sight better chance of selling a product if you make that product something your customers want. So yes it is good business sense to "pander" to your customers if you want their damn money.

I don't know what it is about the games industry but these days it is as if "we should be grateful that they make games for us to buy !!!!" I mean come on here it is my damn money, if you want my money then produce a product I want to buy. Don't expect me to "beg" to pay you money. View

ah fudzilla, you can just feel the love they have for Nvidia on that site can't you. I have never seen a site so "pro ATI" as fudzilla, someone really needs to clue them in that ATI and Nvidia are as bad as each other. View

Well the service is here and it is every bit a rip off as people expected it to be. Microsoft have added 12 games to the demand service :-

Fallout 3 = £34.99
Resident Evil 5 = £29.99
Dirt 2 = £34.99
Street Fighter IV = £24.99
Battlestations Pacific = £24.99
Kayne & Lynch = 1600 mspoints (don't know why you have to have points for this one)
Viva Pinata = £7.49
Fuel = £34.99
Shadowrun = £7.49 (to add insult to injury they use the xbox box art)
Section 8 = £29.99
Tinker = Free (yes it is absolute crap and came free with win7)
Juiced 2 = £14.99

So basically they are charging pretty much the same price you would pay if you purchased full retail copies from a shop (real intelligent).

A quick look on steam shows me that Fallout 3 is £10 cheaper, Dirt 2 is £5 cheaper, street fighter IV is £5 more expensive, Fuel is £5 cheaper on steam and juiced 2 is £5 cheaper on steam. In short pretty much everything that the "on demand" service has to offer is cheaper and available on demand elsewhere. You really couldn't make this crap up. View

Well let it never be said that Microsoft rests on it's laurels. They made PC gamers literally roll around on the floor with laughter when they made Halo 2 a Dx10 Vista only title (and it didn't even have a single bit of Dx10 code in it). Now we have Microsoft releasing a games on demand service only nearly SEVEN YEARS after steam started doing the exact same thing.

You really have to admire at how MS are right in there at the cutting edge don't you /sarcasm. This is what the MS defenders need to remember (not referencing you here Jamescagney) the reason why PC gamers really couldn't give a crap about this "on demand" service is because we have had it for at least 7 years already.

Hell we have had it longer than 7 years I clearly remember downloading the shareware version of doom 1 and doom 2 and paying to unlock the later levels. That is how old games on demand are for the PC.

So I do hope the Microsoft apologists will forgive me if I don't applaud Microsoft for finally doing something that others have been doing a hell of a lot better for well over 7 years. View

Erm how has MS "ported" games to the PC ? Last time I looked they are doing their best to keep games OFF the PC. Let's see Alan Wake oh yeah they got Remedy to cancel the PC version....... Halo 3 hm hope no sign of it on the PC etc etc etc.

MS has absolutely no interest in seriously supporting the PC. They have even stated they keep games OFF the PC to give their console a leg up (if you want proof I will hunt the link down).

Since they released their GFWL service they have done NOTHING to enhance the service. The amount of content on the GFWL is still the same as when they launched it two years ago.

Right now MS is doing nothing but harm to the PC platform and I think PC gamers should reply in kind and leave this shoddy half cut service to die. View

Yeah it's a big hit on Xbox live because (drum roll please) ...... there is NO OTHER CHOICE. The "On demand" service for GFWL is facing competition from at least 3 or 4 other services. The main service that PC gamers use for downloading games (yes we have been doing it for years before they did it on Xbox Live) is of course steam. At this moment in time GFWL can't even shake a tiny lil stick at Steam.

This "on demand" service is going to fail badly it won't even be supported by MS they will just chuck these five launch titles out and that will be it. Meanwhile most sensible PC gamers will use mature download services that cater for their needs and not a cheap ass crap cut and paste console job that MS is trying to pull of. View

They have this on XBL the console service but now they are bringing it to the PC market with several titles no PC gamer actually gives a toss about. It's just another half hearted "hey guys we are still behind the PC" PR stunt from MS. It will die from lack of support, I would hazard a guess that the 5 titles they announced are all there ever will be on this "on demand" service.

MS just don't get it, you can't just copy and paste your console service over to the PC a platform that actually has choice, freedom AND competition. This is why they had to ditch charging for Online on the PC because there was too much competition. I think it is safe to say the competition from Steam, D2D and Impulse will murder GFWL games on demand. I mean hell I would even choose EA's crappy download service before I would even consider using MS's. View
