Stupid article title...
Activision could die in a fire and Sony will be just fine. Who put Activision in charge of platform success? View

Still no interest
in purchasing anything from Valve (says a PS3 owner.) Support goes both ways... View

Asking this question proves...
either ignorance or fanboyism. Neither of which make me want to READ the article to narrow that down. Sony has ALWAYS made great hardware (current generation included.) There problem was they put TOO MUCH into the system, jacking the price up. Had the PS3 sucked, this question would be in the realm of possibility, but as it stands... it's a sensationalistic grab at pageviews (that I'm not giving, since I'm only commenting on N4G.com) View

Waitaminute, let me get this straight...
You're saying 2.90 will come out BEFORE 3.0? I'm pretty sure I read 3.0 was coming out BEFORE 2.90... lol

I know, I know... you're really making the point there will BE a 2.90, but the title made me laugh. View

This isn't a PS3 game...
it's a PSP game. It was playable at E3 but received little to no fanfare. Check out the PSP Sizzle video from the PS Store, there are brief glimpses of this game there. View

Yeah, thanks for the attempted exploit...

There's sensationalism and then there's silliness...
how can you even _ask_ whether having more power matters? Of course it does. It won't matter on multiplatform games much, but for first-part and/or exclusives developed SOLELY for the system, of course more power matters. Things have progressed from multiplatform games automatically being inferior to on par on the PS3 and first party games have gone from ok/impressive to impressive/amazing. I don't see that trend stopping, so to even ask if having more power matters seems silly. Check the sizes of the first party development teams for all three current gen systems... Sony's is the largest (by a longshot) and if equality has largely been achieved on multiplatform titles and first party titles exceed what's possible on the other platforms... ok, I'm done... that was a dumb question designed to draw people to watch the show. It's probably worked. I'll probably even watch it, but as far as a question. Yes, it matters. Sheesh. View

I'm SOOOOOO sick of...
multiplayer gaming being the new standard for gaming in general.

Multiplayer gaming IS NOT the be-all-end-all of gaming. Multiplayer gaming is as valid of a choice to you as single-player gaming is to other people. Don't push your values on others.

Personally, I can barely stand multiplayer FPS gaming and prefer the story-driven single player campaigns.

Also, I buy games known for their multiplayer (Gears, Gears 2, Resistance, Resistance 2, Killzone 2, etc.) and virtually NEVER touch the multiplayer. Sure, I'm missing out on what OTHERS might think is the only reason to buy the games, but you know what? I play the single player campaigns and feel totally fine with my money/entertainment ratio. Spelling on submission title...
also disappointing. I'm just kidding... kind of.

Honestly though, taking MGS4 from a console and slapping it onto a touch interface cell phone game is a dramatic change for the franchise. I'm not terribly surprised people could/would be disappointed in it even if it were technically a well made game. It's taking something we're familiar with and repackaging it in an unfamiliar way. It's no longer a 3D tactical espionage action game, it's an "on rails" shooter. View

I tracked it back to this page: http://tinyurl.com/c9r8yb

But I don't see any barcode or coupon code... I'm going to go back to BB tomorrow and see if I can't get to the bottom of this... View

So I'm a "parasite" for pointing out that I find it absurd we keep seeing articles about what he thinks/likes/dislikes? Wrong.

Cliffy B says/thinks/likes/dislikes this things as part of his job? Wrong.

You can think what you want, hell, Cliffy B can think what he wants to... the point I was trying to make is that some of his comments are clearly attention getting whoring on his part, while the bulk of it is the fault of sensationalistic gaming press. Sorry, I don't consider myself "gaming press" or a "journalist", I write social commentary related to gaming. There's a distinct difference there.

You're entirely entitled to dislike what I do and even discount it as the exact same thing you think Cliffy B is doing except I do this as a hobby and don't live behind any illusions this is my job or even necessarily important. Judging from the rest of the comments here, clearly my opinion on this topic is shared by the vast majority of folks commenting.

Also, just wanted to point out that my article is from a series called "Rothbart's Rants" from a site named "SarcasticGamer.com" , were you expecting me to write about puppies and daisies? ;) View

What you're doing isn't at all related to the DivX Video On Demand functionality though, that's simply playing back DivX/Xvid files on a DivX Certified device. The "Video On Demand" part is new to Firmware 2.50 and is for playing back DRM'd DivX files that you can presumably (eventually) buy/rent from somewhere. View

You don't even make sense dude...
You realize that DivX Video On Demand is part of a system where you buy/rent DivX content. Of course it has to be tied to an account of yours. Yeah, I think it's a bit weird that you can't do all of it directly from the PS3, but WTF with the "flop" usage... you seem to use that word like kids used "Smurf" back in the days...

I've got no problem with the possibility of a 2nd avenue for buying video content (allowing price competition) and such, it's just silly that there seems to be no SOURCE for said video content... View

I stop reading articles when they refer to Home as Sony's answer to Xbox Live...
fortunately this dumbass said it right at the beginning of his article to save me time.

If he believes that Home is an answer to Xbox Live, his opinions/thoughts don't matter to me because he's already "off". View

TO EVERYONE ANGRY AT SARCASTICGAMER.COM FOR POSTS LIKE THIS...
If you've ever complained about a Sarcastic Gamer Fiction Friday article on the pages of N4G.com, please read this:

WE DO NOT SUBMIT THESE ARTICLES TO N4G... OTHER PEOPLE DO AND WE CANNOT STOP THEM ANY MORE THAN _YOU_ CAN.

We have every right to write whatever we want (made up or not) and they're CLEARLY LABELED ON OUR SITE as "fake news" and "Fiction Friday" so for all the people out there expressing animosity toward us, how about simply PM'ing the _submitter_ from now on as they're the clueless ones, not us... and frankly, they're making all you commenters complaining about us look pretty clueless too.

We're having fun. The Fiction Friday articles are IN THE NAME OF FUN... then one guy comes along, wanting to submit something that gets traction on N4G, next thing you know, he's absolutely unscathed, while WE get raked over the coals. Does that seem fair?

We only do Fiction Friday one day of the week, so I suggest you check the post tags when you read articles on ALL sites, simply ignore links to SG on Fridays if this sort of thing upsets you, or get a life. View

Ummm.... thanks?
Don't be misled by our Fiction Friday stuff that people keep posting to N4G from our site (we don't post our Fiction Friday articles to N4G, but we can't stop other people from doing it). We're serious (but sarcastic) about gaming 6 days a week. ;) View

I take offense...
to that compliment. We write great articles all the time, only asshats come along and post our "Fiction Friday" stuff to N4G (we don't do that ourselves, it's irresponsible since our context of Fiction Friday isn't adequately reflected on N4G) and we get a reputation like we're trying to spam our fake news all over the site. The fact that we like to write fiction stories on Fridays (in our own little world) is absolutely a valid choice and most of the criticisms of us on this site are ignorance-based... we can't control what Joe "I've gotta post 200 things to N4G today" Surfer does in his spare time.

I challenge you to come take a look at SarcasticGamer.com at the articles we put out... on any day other than Friday (because those will be fake news)... take a look at MY articles... and then say "holy crap they wrote a good article" with a straight face. I'm not being arrogant, our site puts out quality editorial content with a flavor many folks really like.

You sir, are missing out.

Thanks for the (backhanded?) compliment... View

As the author of this (and several other Fiction Friday articles that've been posted to N4G)...
I should point out that SarcasticGamer.com DOES NOT POST THEIR FICTION CONTENT TO N4G.COM!

But we can't stop other folks (that we don't even know, frankly) from stumbling along and posting it...

So short of not doing the Fiction Friday stuff at all (and don't ask us to stop, we're not stopping), please take a second or two before bashing _US_ and realize... "Hey, maybe it's not Sarcastic Gamer's fault that <random asshat> is posting their CLEARLY LABELED FICTION as news on N4G!"

In this case, shoot the _messengers_, not the authors.

Thanks!

BTW, lighten up guys... Fiction Friday is meant to elicit laughs, not hatred. View

Thanks for the summaries of game types
it's much nicer to read them on the clock at work than to sit at home and be expected to give up game time to read the manual... ;)

A couple of those modes sound like a blast. I'm going to give a serious go at the single player before I allow myself to get drawn into the multiplayer aspect.

I saw a video online of a user-made game mode where 16 people play and load up on weapons, they then fly 8 to the top of the "Empire State Building" replica, and separate for a minute or so. Then 8 guys in helicopters try to take down the 8 guys on the skyscraper. They called the mode King Kong. That kind of flexibility is pretty awesome, if you ask me. View
