I actually have a start-up site/project in mind pertaining to petitions for games and i think with the help of a coder and graphic artist, i could have something. But for now, i think you're right. The mentality, by just looking at the comments from people here who reported the article, is that petitions are 'lame' and are instantly judged before they are even read it seems :( View

Actually, i see online petitions as a positive way for gamers to show their interest/support/disdain/etc. for games. It allows people all across the world to have a say and as you can see, this petition is closing in on 30,000 signatures. Thirty-thousand. A lot of the petitions i've seen barely reach 1,000 before dying out. But the point is that people have a say as a collective group, and sometimes that can actually produce results.... View

You have to remember that these 29,000+ signatures have take months to achieve. View

Considering this hasn't gotten any major support, 30,000 signatures would be quite an accomplishment if you ask me. Every vote counts. View

Even if it was a good game...? View

Why not? Looking at how well God of War:CoO and Crisis Core: FFVII turned out, this could be just as good. Plus, this would be a great bridge between the first and second game, just like the DS version was a prequel i believe. View

I don't see how Konami will win this considering they outlined concepts for games...if someone can't make a game because the concept was patented, then what point is there to making games? View

My concern is that the PS3 devs will continue to use 'installations' as an excuse to bypass improving their code. Most installs on the PS3 are 5GB...now, if someone bought a 20GB PS3, they can install 3 games...someone who bought the 40GB PS3 can install 7 games...not bad, but people will obtain more than 7 games in a short matter of time. I could understand 1-2GB installs but 5GB is insane. It needs to end. I'll take *slightly* longer load times over my HDD filling up with useless crap. View

@25.1

I originally read that article but realized it was from May 2007. Then i came across the link below and it stated that 2.20 would see the memory footprint reduced "a lot". Would love to know what the actual footprint is now with 2.35...

@27, wouldn't matter, the developers wouldn't be able to use it because not everyone would have it. View

From what has been released, the PS3 uses a little less than 64MB total of the 512MB combined system memory...that right there is likely the systems greatest hurtle that needs to be overcome. In comparison, the 360 uses 32MB total of the 512MB of system memory. If Sony can free up 20-30 MB, this would put the two systems on roughly the same ground memory wise, leaving the developers to use the systems' CPU's and GPU's to their fullest. From what we've seen, once the developers get a grasp on the PS3's SPEs (which i believe is 6 for the devs, 1 for the OS) we should see some pretty damn good looking games, even better than MGS4, possibly better than Killzone 2 and/or GT5.

But again, Sony needs to lower the PS3's memory footprint and give the devs back some memory. View

This petition was started back in November 2007, roughly 7 months ago...a lot has been revealed features wise about PS3-PSP connectivity. View

@1.1

The point of this article is that these 20,000 signatures have come from small sites, forums, and word of mouth/friend-to-friend. If this were to be posted on GameSpot, IGN, 1UP, etc...the signature could could double, triple, or even higher. View

I wouldn't really call 2,000 anything that's newsworthy...but it's a start. View

Rockstar going multi-platform with GTA4 was a good thing financially. So far it seems both games are nearly the same which means it should pay off for fans as well. While i hate EA's yearly releases, it's hard to argue with their current structure in terms of efficiency. View

Simply put, it is bad parenting if your child is playing too many games. It isn't that hard to take the game console out of their room and lock it away for a while, or in the case of a computer, put the kid(s) on an account of their own and then as a parent using the admin account (with a password), restrict access to the game(s) until you see fit. Not that hard... View
