Infinite Undiscovery
You are correct that Last Remanent is not exclusive. I meant to say Infinite Undiscovery, which IS exclusive. You are also correct that Cry On and Dead or Alive Code: Cronus are not technically confirmed 2008, although there is every indication that they will be released in 2008, unlike FFXIII, which Square Enix has indicated on several occassions is likely a 2009 release.

As for BubblesDaverage, I have to chuckle at Sony fanboys that claim that VGchartz is not accurate, and then say that Sony is winning in Europe (not to say that BubblesDaverage is making both statements--I'm talking about Sony fanboys in general here). What is the basis for fanboys' belief that Sony is winning in Europe? Its VGchartz! There are no other European sales figures available. Total hypocrisy. Either VGchartz is accurate, or it is not. If its not accurate, then the only reliable figures we have are for America, where Xbox 360 sales nearly double PS3. We have no reliable figures for Europe, so we can only extrapolate that they mirror American sales. If VGchartz is accurate, then there is no question that Xbox 360 outsells the PS3 worldwide and by a very large margin in North America. So I say to the PS3 fan, you pick which one of the above you choose to believe. Either one is defendable. But you can't pick and choose which VGchartz figures you wish to believe. View

Xbox 360 Has a Strong 2008 Line Up
I always get a chuckle out of Sony fanboys insistence that 2008 will save the PS3 because of its purportedly superior line up of games. If I were Microsoft, I wouldn't change places with Sony's line up of game for a minute. There really is no mystery or uncertainty here. Microsoft's games line up for 2008 is far more vast that the Playstation 3s. The PS3 has a few big name games that are currently exclusives--third party games MGS3 and FFXIII and first party Killzone 2. And in fact, Square Enix has indicated that FFXIII will actually be releasing in 2009, not 2008.

If you look at Micrsoft's confirmed 2008 line up, it's mind boggling. There are more than twice as many games confirmed for release on the Xbox 360 in 2008 that there are for the PS3. And its not just an issue of quantity (which is imperical and beyond debate), but Microsoft has a lot more than three potential blockbusters, with Fable 2, Halo Wars, Too Human, Alan Wake, Nija Gaiden 2, Splinter Cell 5 Conviction, The Last Remanent, Banjo Kazooie 3, Age of Conan: Hyborian Adventures, All Points Bulletin, Command & Conquer 3: Kane’s Wrath, Cry On, Culdcept Saga, Dance Dance Revolution Universe 2, Dark Messiah of Might and Magic: Elements, Dead Island, Dead or Alive Code: Cronus, Dungeon Hero, Elveon, Far East of Eden Ziria, GTR, Huxley, Kingdom Under Fire: Circle of Doom, Left 4 Dead, Mobile Ops: The One Year War, Lost Odyssey, Operation Darkness, Postal III, Sacred 2: Fallen Angel, Spectral Force 3, The Secret World, Theseis, Universe At War: Earth Assault, Warhammer: Battle March, Warhound, and World in Conflict.

These are all games that are releasing EXCLUSIVELY for the Xbox 360 in 2008. This is a tidal wave of exclusives. So for people that say that PS3 has a better line up for 2008, I say that you are sorely sorely mistaken. Playstation 3 has never had a single month where it sold more worldwide than the Xbox 360 and I assure you, that is going to continue every month of 2008. View

I can appreciate the sincerity of your comments, but...
I for one truly do not believe that the Playstation 3 will outsell the Xbox 360 in 2008. There are two games coming out exclusively for the PS3 that people are aware of--MGS4 and Final Fantasy XIII. These will probably move some consoles, but I think their impact on PS3 sales is overexagerated. Xbox 360 has some very impressive exclusives of its own coming down the pike, including two big RPGs--Fable 2 and Too Human. In the end, I think the PS3 will survive, albeit in a distant third place. There may even be a PS4 released, but that will probably be the end of the Playstation line. History is really the best guide here. Look at Microsoft's big rivals in the past 20 years. First Microsoft took over the operating system market, then it took over the browser market. In my view, the playstation brand will follow Netscape as brands that once held dominance in their individual markets until the full weight of Microsoft came down. Microsoft are exception marketers. In my view, the individuals behind the Xbox 360 are simply smarter than the individuals behind the playstation. Microsoft has a corporate culture that has worked for them in the past quite successfully and it will work for them again in the future. Think about it. Has Microsoft ever gone into a market where there is an established and dominant competitor and lost to that competitor? Sure, there are still battles that are being fought in other markets, but in each of those battles, Microsoft's market share increases on a yearly basis. If you understand the history of Microsoft's endeavors, you will understand the future. This is not guaranteed (nothing in life ever is), but it is a pretty good framework for understanding the current console wars. View

This Has All Been Noted So Many Times Before....
But here we go again, for those that simply don't understand the differences between the PS3 and the Xbox 360. The simple fact is that the PS3 has a huge memory bandwidth hardware bottleneck. Also, when it comes to RAM, the Xbox 360 certainly DOES have fundamental advantages over the Playstation 3. For example, the CPU of the PS3 can NEVER access more than 256MB of RAM at any point. The Xbox 360 CPU is free to access up to 512MB of RAM if there was a need. With the PS3, there are plenty of times when the CPU needs more than 256MB of RAM, and the Video-RAM of the PS3 is actually using less than 256MB of RAM, which means that if the PS3 had a Unified RAM environment–like the Xbox 360’s–then that unused Video-RAM could help the CPU, like it does on the Xbox 360. OBVIOUSLY, the Xbox 360 RAM design is much more flexible; it helps developers in ways that they enjoy working with. Plus, it’s important to remember that the original design of the Playstation 3 called for the used of TWO Cell CPU processors–each with two Threads that could Send signals to the SPE subprocessors. However, when Sony saw the design of the Xbox 360, and they saw how much better the Xbox 360 was, then Sony was forced to redesign the Playstation 3 very quickly in a way that hurt the PS3 system. This is nearly identical to what happened with Sega and the Saturn. Sega saw how much better the original PS1 was, and they were forced to quickly redesign the Saturn in a way that used parallel processing that was difficult to work with and was more expensive. This is EXACTLY what happened with the Playstation 3.

The original design of the PS3 was not even supposed to used a GPU, because it was going to have two of the Cell CPU processors. But when Sony saw the revolutionary ATI GPU in the Xbox 360 that was Custom designed for the Xbox 360, and was 1.5 years ahead of its time (since the PC didn’t see similar Unified Shader technology until January 30, 2007), then Sony was forced to removed one of the Cell CPUs in the PS3, and instead add a Nvidia GPU. But there was NOT time to custom design the GPU, so Sony was forced to included a four-year old generic GPU in the PS3. That is why people often point out the vast superiority of the Xbox 360 GPU.

Now that the PS3 only has one 3.2Ghz Cell CPU, it means that the PS3 has only two Threads capable of Sending signals to the six SPE sub-processors running parallel. Each of those six SPE processors is capable of Receiving a Threaded signal; however, the PS3 CPU is only capable of Sending two Threaded signals. This is where the hardware “bottleneck” of the PS3 reveals itself. Programmers often say that the PS3 has two arms (CPU Threads) that are trying to juggle six balls (SPE sub-processors). Obviously, that is NOT possible, and that is why the Playstation 3 hardware is such a BIG disappointment.

With the Xbox 360, Microsoft used a much newer and better form of technology. PCs often brag about their “dual-core” CPU design. The Xbox 360 actually takes that to the next level and used a “tri-core” CPU design, with each CPU using the most developer-favored videogame processor available–the PowerPC.

The Xbox 360 is literally the exact opposite when compared to the Playstation 3 in terms of hardware design and efficiency. The Xbox 360 has three 3.2Ghz CPUs, each with two Threads capable of Sending instructions. But the Xbox 360 doesn’t the outdated parallel processing environment of the PS3. There are no “sub-processors” to worry about with the Xbox 360. The signals can be focused on CPU and GPU commands. This literally means the Xbox 360 has six arms (CPU Threads) that are being asked to juggle only two balls (GPU and CPU functions). THAT is why the overwhelming majority of Xbox 360 games offer better graphic and online performance on the Xbox 360. THAT is NOT going to change! View

Ignoring The Facts
Now who is living under a rock? I gave you a link before and I will give you a link again. Click Here --> http://www.vgchartz.com The PS3 is THIRD world wide--not as of the end of summer, but as of December 1, 2007. PS3 on par with Wii? Don't make me laugh. Again, for the week ending December 1, 2007, there were 644k Wii's sold worldwide and 350k PS3s (about half the Wii sales). The Xbox 360 sales, while less than the Wii, were better than the PS3. So PLEASE get your facts straight before you challenge what I have to say. And as for the reasons why people buy the PS3, look at the attach rate. It is significantly less than the Xbox 360 (and that is per console, so the fact that there are 3 times as many Xbox 360s in homes than PS3s is irrelevant to that analysis). View

Face Facts: PS3 Is A Poor Games Machine
I think this has been covered ad nauseum, but Sony fanboys simply don't understand (and of course, they never will). The PS3 can run pure computations pretty fast. No one doubts that. But running games is different than running pure calculations. There have been innumerable articles that have discussed the fact that, in terms of its ability to play games, the Xbox 360 is simply superior to the PS3 (better graphics rendering, more memory, less bottlenecks, etc). How am I living under a rock?
In fact, I would suggest I'm more in tune with the state of the console race than you. PS3 is THIRD in worldwide next gen console sales (see http://www.vgchartz.com ), and based on software sales (Xbox 360 sales are greater than PS3 and Wii combined), many of those who do purchase a PS3 are buying it just as a movie player and don't actually play video games. This is simple fact. Sorry you find it inconvenient. View

Does Anyone Really Care About This Game?
Been there, done that. This game is old hat. I don't expect the game to sell well at all. Probably won't even surpass the sales figures for the latest Ratchet & Clank, and that's pretty darn low. View

Your inability to spell insults correctly aside, it was NOT posted last week. Your failure to provide any link is clear evidence of that! This is the most recent information available. View

Not in Vain
I don't use your name in vain. I do point out that you are being extremely hypocritical. First, the link you provided links to a page without data. Second, you just submitted the European results without any context what so ever. I didn't see you reference any other locations. Third, I had to link it this way because the alternative results in a rejection because its the same link used in past stories (although for past weeks). View

European Results Are Reported
It's so absurd that Meus Renaissance submits the European Results, and the PS3 fanboys approve and argue that it shows that the PS3 is overtaking the Xbox 360, but when those results are brought into context with the American results, now they claim "old", "fake", etc. The Round Peg actually stated: "Remember to report the European VG charts too if you're going to report." What a shocking comment, since that's already been reported by Meus Renaissance. I'm simply providing a more complete picture here. View

Why Do People Buy The PS3?
This is another example of how foolish it is to buy a PS3 instead of an Xbox 360. The PS3 has framerate problems not present on the Xbox 360 version. Where have we heard that before? If you play it on the Xbox 360, not only do you get a better game, but you get achievements to boot. This is why the PS3 is failing. View

CONTEXT
To post that, according to one dubious authority, the PS3 is outselling the Xbox 360 by a margin of 30,000, while not being able to post that the same authority claims that the Xbox 360 is outselling the PS3 in North America by a margin of 70,000 leaves a misimpression that the PS3 is beating the Xbox 360, when that is clearly not the case. Information is only valuable in context. View

How Does This Get Submitted?
In America, Xbox 360 outsells PS3 by 70,000 consoles. See http://vgchartz.com/aweekly...

I can't submit that as news, however, because the link is the same as last week's link, although the subject matter is different (it's a new week). There must be a way to get around that, though, because this article has been posted. View

No Love For PS3
The top 10 list for the Playstation editor in chief has two Xbox 360 games and no playstation 1, 2, or 3 games. Priceless. Just goes to show the superiority of the console. View

But...
That's the beautiful thing about the Xbox 360. With games like Mass Effect, which have "romance" subplots, I can have a virtual, in-game, girlfriend, and I don't have to spend the $50 on dinner and a movie. Sex is fleeting. Gaming is forever. View

Go Microsoft!
This is all old news, but the graphs are very pretty.

I think what a lot of people fail to realize is that the Xbox 360's success may very well save the PS3 from going the way of the dreamcast. If third party game makers only had the PS3's market to sell to, it would be very difficult for them to make a profit. The cost necessary to create a decent game requires a lot of sales, and the PS3 install base and attach rate would not support that. The Xbox 360, however, has a much bigger install base and an exponentially larger attach rate. This means that developers can make games for the Xbox 360 and, for a cost much smaller than developing for the PS3 alone, port that code to the PS3. But for this, developers would focus almost exclusively on the Wii, where the likelihood of profit would be so much greater. View
