It is going to be very hard to duplicate the bodaciousness of Kratos in any character however, sticking with a character who has more convictions than Kratos seems to be a smart move by Visceral Games. Dante's Inferno already feels and plays a lot like the God Of War series. View

I believe you said it best by stating that KILLZONE 2 is not a casual game. Even though both games are FPS titles, they are completely different in style, feel and gameplay. Most people can pick up a HALO title and find a form of enjoyment and immediate success where as KILLZONE 2 can be considered quite intimidating for the average FPS gamer. KILLZONE 2 is louder, heavier and literally more explosive. This no knock on any HALO title however it does take more skill to master the intensity of KILLZONE 2. From controlling your weapons recoils and rate of fire to avoiding sentry bots and invisible snipers the game is not something which would appeal to the casual gamer as often as an HALO title. It is completely hardcore and an acquired taste. Better is an opinion that I'll leave for the user, to each his own. View

@ Obama,
You make a great point. When unknown sites give HALO 3:ODST a low score while all the major rating networks give it high marks, it does make you wonder, "Who should I believe?" Who really has an agenda to take my money and who is out to honestly and fairly give me a review based on today's top-notch gaming standards.

Despite all the so-called gaming networks giving reviews gamers need to take play it safe in situations like this and rent titles they are unsure. Because nothing is worst than expecting this over-the-top experience by spending $60 on a product that you are unfortunately disappointed in.

For a title like HALO 3: ODST which is the 4th installment of the franchise (outsid of HALO WARS) you have to ask yourself has this title truly evolved? For hardcore HALO fans it probably doesn't matter, however if you are a fan of the FPS genre and you thought HALO 2&3 were decent then you might be in for a rude awakening with HALO 3: ODST.

What truly can't be emphasized enough is the games experience. HALO 3: ODST plays so much like the installments before it that you sometimes think you are playing HALO 3 with a weaker Master Chief. View

As crillyconlig stated, that is the issue. Outside of all the fan bashing from HALO haters, HALO 3: ODST is scoring high ratings no different than game that clearly have far more polish and I believe that is where the outcry stems from.

After our play-through of HALO 3: ODST I was quite interested in how the major review networks would review this game. Because the game industry is growing by leaps and bounds unfortunately sometimes corners are cut and due-processes get overlooked. When reviewing any game there must be a standard barrier to use as a gauge. As time passes that standard barrier begins to grow due to technological advances in gaming.

Since the original HALO there has been new FPS games that have exceeded the games before it and looking at our current generation of FPS titles the playing field is extremely competitive. Developers oftentimes spend 2 sometimes 3 yrs bringing their latest FPS titles to fruition and a lot of these games are packed with all kinds of new mechanics in order to create a more visceral and immersive experience - sprinting, cover-systems, bullets that penetrate through thick walls, knife kills, slow-mo kills, insane graphical details on weapons and surfaces, massively destructible environments, the list goes on and on. New standards are always trying to be set and because of this some reviewing networks need to re-examine their review systems and re-examine why they do it in the first place.

The truth of the matter is, HALO 3: ODST is not on par with many of today's top notch shooters and it is disturbingly obvious. It is a fun game which fans will enjoy but let's not forget that when rating a game there has to be a standard in which it is judged. View

Not a bad list at all, some of the rankings are a bit questionable. I think R:FOM and R2 could possibly squeeze in there somewhere. FEAR and UT3 being placed higher than HALO 3 is very questionable. Also when you look at the total package of KILLZONE 2 it trumps Crysis. #1 should be a toss between COD:MW & KILLZONE 2 but regardless not a bad list at all. View

Yes buy KILLZONE 2 immediately. But remember, this game is intense an feels different from other shooters in the sense that experiences like reloading will be real(no quick arcadey animations, it takes a little time)in the middle of intense shooting and taking cover on harder difficulties will be mandatory. This is a hardcore shooter at it's best. View

Yes BIOSHOCK 2 is an acclaimed title but more importantly Take-Two understands the investment they have made with this title and they also know what they are going up against this holiday season. No one is denying the greatness of the BIOSHOCK franchise however, it is only common sense for a publisher to chose a release date that compliments more sales. View

I am one of those people who loved the original game and had high expectations for this new title due to today's robust hardware. View

I couldn't agree more. As many have stated before, the animations displayed in this 5 minute video are unbelievable. There was also a sequence in the video that displayed the reflection of the water shimmering on the wall while Drake was jumping from the bookcase due to the natural lighting that was being displayed on the water below - AMAZING!. All biases aside I must say that since KILLZONE 2 these PS3 exclusives have been making some rather bold statements. View

Unfortunately there were people who were hating on inFAMOUS. Some people will diss a game just because it's an exclusive on a console not of their individual liking, regardless inFAMOUS looks to deliver a great experience. This game is a first day purchase for me. View

It does make sense for Sony to take this approach. As much as it might seems like a minute issue, psychologically over time one logo (360) does overtly overshadow the other (PS3). If this is a regular occurrence with the new 'PS3' logo then it is a smart move by Sony. View

Atari does have their work cut out for them. However, it appears Phil Harrison has been laying down the law trying to get things in order. Hopefully Atari can rebound from all in-house re-positioning and truly focus on developing and publishing some hits. I'm personally looking forward to the new Ghostbusters game. View
