Arnon: Get a life. The only posts that ever exist in our Comment section that are loaded with flaming and generally idiotic comments come from THIS place. It's a waste of my time to keep banning them.

Secondly, you haven't the slightest idea what we produce. I REALLY HATE when people make snap assumptions based on the name of the site without reading a single solitary article. Maybe you should try that. I don't do "flamebait." YOU'RE the fools that turn it INTO flamebait. That's a retarded Internet term; I was writing an editorial. It's called opinion based on the current state of the industry, of which the PS3 is definitely a part and hence, we're interested by it.

You can believe what you want. Maybe if you read ANY of our pieces, you'd actually understand what our entire community understands. We're ALL sick of being branded based on the name of the site, and the fact that ADD-riddled individuals won't do ANY research for themselves. I'm through here. View

Do me a favor
If you plan on signing up to post drivel that might pass here but NOT at our site, please don't bother. We work hard to keep our community full of polite, intelligent gamers.

We don't need this site's trash. If you want to contribute in the way most of our readers contribute, you're always welcome. Otherwise, please stay away. Thank you.

Also, from the reviewer himself:

1) I didn't get lost. I was in the right spot the whole time, the game failed to trigger the cut-scene.

2) I wasn't nitpicking, I specifically stated there were some camera and control issues, which is enough to dock the game a few points.

3) Good catch on the 9.9 for Replay, it was supposed to have been a 9.5.

Just so everyone knows, he explains why the game doesn't get a perfect 10 in his review. And every source has different requirements for a "10;" for our part, we agree that no game is perfect but a 10 is simply better than just about anything you'll ever find anywhere.

For the record, we've only given out one 10 this generation, and it went to MGS4.

To all those thinking this is some sort of trick to generate hits, I think I've said before I couldn't possibly care less about our articles getting on N4G or Digg or whatever. We like traffic, of course, but I'm not in the business of creating articles for other people to gawk at unless they're directly interested.

The exclusive I speak of is real; the leak came to me accidentally, and I simply agreed to keep it under wraps. That's all there is to it. Continue to speculate all you want, but DON'T accuse us of making crap up for the sake of hits. I hate that.

StanLee: I may be the only real journalist you'll ever read online at this point. As for your other ridiculous claim, the only "fanboy arguments" that arise from my articles come when they get posted HERE. Thousands of articles about how I own and enjoy the 360 and about how Gears is an exclusive PS3 fans wish they had, and about how the 360/PS3 combo is awesome, won't come here.

Nothing to fight about in those. Big effing surprise and thanks SO much for proving my very point in that article (someone who knows absolutely nothing about me flaming for no purpose whatsoever and with no basis in anything).

Such intro paragraphs are never for our readers. They're for the idiots in this hellhole who don't read a single word I ever write and dismiss the site due to the name, all the while never responding with a single solitary shred of rebuttal than could be considered even semi-intelligent.

I can't control what gets on here. The editorials about how the 360/PS3 combo is the best ever, or why people shouldn't own just one console, or the multiple articles I wrote about the PS3 and Sony failing its consumers during the launch, or any general gaming-related topics that address anything under the sun...I do them all, and they never show up here. No, only the ones that spark brainless comments, which in turn sparks brainless flamewars. Such a flattering look at the gaming community in here. Really.

Not so sincerely,

Appreciated.
Thanks to both. I really don't care if people want to run me through the gristmill. Children slinging attacks at me through a screen don't impress me, and and certainly don't affect me.

It's just frustrating because such absurd behavior gives PSXE a bad name, when we all work very hard to be the best source of objective, unbiased PlayStation content on the 'Net. The snap assumptions, ALL based on a headline and the name of the site, are juvenile and laughable, but they're also hurtful to a reputation that is pretty damn good. View

The attention span of hamsters
I'm so sick of this I could just choke. I'm well aware that nobody reads a word I write; they just see the headline and the name of the site and make instant - and entirely inaccurate - assumptions.

I didn't name the site. I don't own the site. It has been around for well over 10 years; I just came on in late 2006. It was a gig because I needed one. It's called money. A job. I have no agenda because I'm not 13. As a 30-year-old journalism professional with a resume that extends far beyond gaming, I find it immensely depressing that the social online community related to this industry is so heavily loaded with hostility and negativity. It's not my fault that people spend two seconds at PSXE, read nothing, and call us "fanboys" or biased. If anybody wants to sift through the thousands of articles I've put up in the past few years and desperately attempt to find some semblance of "bias," I welcome that. Have fun. You'll be there for a while. You'll also find editorials where I consistently call Sony out for a terrible launch, a significant lack of marketing, and failure to listen to the consumers.

I wrote editorials about how the 360 and PS3 might be the best gaming tandem ever. I wrote editorials about how people shouldn't be one-console owners. But those never make it to N4G. Those don't get any attention outside the site. That ISN'T my fault. But please, do continue to slam me and a well-respected site within the PlayStation community without reviewing even the tiniest bit of content we post. Really. That means when I run into the guys I used to work with for the papers, I can hang my head and just reluctantly agree, "yeah, you're right. They ARE all children."

vasilisk: If you have any evidence to back that up, I'd like to see it. When you refer to "the talk in your country" from Sony, can you point to anything specific...? I'm not grilling you, but if you have concrete info that supports the October-November 2009 release window, I'm sure our readers would like to know.

"This has got to be written by the same guy who keeps saying he only uses his PS3 to play Bluray movies."

Oh yes, this sounds EXACTLY like me; coming from the same person who has written editorials dealing with topics like, "the PS3 doesn't need to be 'saved,'", and "the idea that the PS3 has no games is extinct." ;)

Sincerely,

Everyone-

I'm glad some people are excited about this, but I'd also like to clarify that we really didn't go out of our way to "tease" anything. I merely included it at the end of one of our features concerning PS3 exclusives. But now that it's out, I'll leave you all with this-

1. I already answered this in the Comments section, but it is NOT the Team ICO project. I'm as pumped about it as anyone else - SotC remains one of my favorite games ever - but I really have no idea what they're doing.

2. The reason we won't just announce it is because, quite simply, we promised we wouldn't. They made a mistake in talking about it and I decided not to run with it.

3. I believe the game has already been in front of panels and groups, just so the developer can see what the gamers think of the project. I'd LIKE to think the announcement isn't far off.

4. It IS a title people will recognize. It has been in the news before.

And that's it. PLEASE don't e-mail me saying things like, "oh, I promise I won't tell" and blah blah blah. We're not going to make any announcement until the team is ready.

WAIT.

Sevir04, you're mistaking me for someone else. I was never part of any focus group you're talking about; the information came to me when speaking with a member of a certain studio. He accidentally let everything slip, and then when I spoke to the head of the studio, he said nothing had actually been announced and so I agreed to keep it under wraps until they were ready. That's all.

We can tease...but we won't tell. I'm keeping the promise. ;)

ZuperAmazingCookie: I never said those games don't give the 360 value. I have a 360 BECAUSE of those games. That wasn't the point of the article; it was merely asking if the PS3's current and future lineup of exclusives outstrips that of the 360's.

baedeus: Don't get me started on arguing "opinion." There are subjective AND objective aspects to compare in video games, even if they operate on a sliding scale. No, you can't say it's your "opinion" that Gran Tursimo 5: Prologue has inferior graphics to Pulse Racer. No, that's just wrong. It's incorrect. You CAN say, "I like Pulse Racer's graphics more" (no idea why you would say that, but you can say it). You CANNOT say Pulse Racer's graphics are "better." Because they're not. Quality is NOT, and will never be, dependent on personal opinion. As much as you may prefer the McDonald's hamburger, it's an inferior piece of meat to a fine cut of filet mignon. View

It's not our policy to give no-name gaming sites any further exposure by posting replies in a useless war. So please, anyone e-mailing us asking for a response, just stop. It won't go on our site. This is as far as we go, because that's about what a random gaming blog deserves.

Also, if anybody wants to actually compare the quality and potential quality of both lists, it only helps my initial point. Every last one of the exclusives on the PS3 I listed have been received very well by critics (or most certainly will be), and I purposely left out a ton that I'm not too sure about.

Apparently, the 360 fanboys desperately need to throw every last 360 exclusive they can dig up to make a competitive list. I asked for top-quality exclusives; perhaps I wasn't being specific. Carcassonne? Culdcept Saga? Ridge Racer 6? N+? Please. Just eliminate worthless titles and concentrate on the best of the best. No, Gears 2, Halo 3, L4D, Forza and Fable II don't compare to MGS4, LBP, GT5, Killzone 2, and the R&C, Resistance, Uncharted, and God of War III franchises. They...JUST...DON'T. Okay?

To the author of the article: I agree there's plenty of scum around here, but perhaps there's a good reason why very few readers agree with what you wrote. Personally, I'm just sick of gamers pretending to be journalists "calling out" real journalists for the sake of traffic.

I wrote the article and I'd just like to add that yes, of course it's all about opinion. The POINT is to get people talking about their opinions, yes? ;)

By the way, I neglected to mention Lost Odyssey for the Xbox 360, and that's a big mistake from my end. Being a huge fan of traditional RPGs, I LOVED that game and I desperately hope they're making a sequel... It came out in December 2007 in Japan but it didn't launch in NA until February of this year so I should've included it for the 360 side of things.

darthv72: They have my back? If they "had my back," they'd FIX THE PROBLEM.

Everyone: All of you talking about how they're fixing broken systems for free need to wake the hell up. They COULD fix this easily enough if they tried. They'd much rather force you to send it in to get fixed...sure, it's free for 3 years, but perhaps you're unfamiliar with the gift card business concept. Why are gift cards so popular? It's because only about HALF of them are ever redeemed, which means a lot of pure profit for absolutely nothing. When a 360 fails, not everyone is packaging it up immediately to send it out. Some are just pissed and don't want to look at it, then maybe they get a replacement machine as a birthday or holiday gift. Or maybe they don't play it for a while, then just decide to buy one themselves at a later date. THIS is why Microsoft doesn't fix the problem. Right here.

As for customer service, Microsoft's is abysmal while Sony actually HELPS. I've dealt extensively with both, and while I HATE doing this, I have to admit that Sony reps actually speak English, and they actually address the problem. Call MS. You'll get another Indian guy who asks in horribly broken English if your system is plugged in. Even the most die-hard 360 fan I know will freely admit that one of MS's biggest downfalls is its horrible customer service.

As for the site, I'm really not interested in defending it. We've built a wonderful community with more intelligent and more civil Comments than ANY site you're going to find (I promise you that), and we maintain the "no fanboy" policy for all sides. I work very hard to handle the content, and after a quarter-century of gaming and nearly 8 years in entertainment journalism (music, comedy, television, etc.) and writing where I've published in 6 different publications ranging from newspapers to magazines to Internet sites, I can say confidently I really don't give a flying fig about brand loyalty. Thank you. View

As I wrote the article in question, I'd like to add something-

First of all, I'd like to thank the few voices of reason in here that actually READ the article and concluded it wasn't biased. And that's because it isn't. Those who know us at PSXE realize we're nothing but a legitimate PlayStation news/content site. I was a general entertainment writer for several years until I was hired to handle the content for this site, which is what I do on a daily basis with the site's co-founder. I wrote all the doom and gloom of late 2006 and early 2007, just like all other sources; we report on all PS-related news, good and bad. Furthermore, I will absolutely guarantee we're just as strict in our reviews as anyone else, if not more so. I'm willing to bet we come in UNDER the critical average for our PlayStation 3 and PlayStation 2 reviews, for example.

Now, in regards to the article, I get upset when a company releases a sub-par product to the public and gets away with it. I like the 360 just fine, as I stated, and I want to keep it. But in no way is this acceptable. I was upset with Sony during the early days of the PS2 when the defective ratio was unacceptable, and I always praise Nintendo for releasing products that NEVER break. Only the fanboys are quick to leap down my throat because it's a PS-oriented site and this is an article about the 360 (of course, they didn't READ the article, but fanboys don't read, anyway), and those with a clear head can't possibly deny that Microsoft failed the consumer. Miserably. The 360 is an unreliable piece of crap in terms of hardware reliability, and that's not fair. That's the only point of the article and NOWHERE do I "bash" the system for any reason besides the one clearly stated here.

P.S. We don't allow fanboys of ANY kind on the site, so don't bother signing up to post nasty Comments. I'll delete those and your account speedy quick-like. If you're wondering, I don't allow system bashing of ANY kind in our Comments; Sony fanboys who want to slam the 360 all day aren't allowed on our site, either.

I own a 360, I have plenty of games for it, I clearly state I'd recommend the 360 version of game if it's clearly better, and at no point is it even remotely implied I "hate" the 360. Your reply certainly holds an implication, though, and it's one I see in GameStop employees.

It's not that they love the 360. It's not that they prefer it or like or whatever. They could ALL prefer it. I really don't care; what I care about is lying to and misleading customers due to their own personal bias. That much should've been clear in the article.
