That's just USA guys... USA is ranked pretty low in Internet Infrastructure...
In Japan, switching to only downloadable games would be a breeze, there available Networks are extremely fast.
Even here in Canada.. With Shaw Cable, I have a 10MBPS connection for 42$ a month! 10MBPS means that I download a WHOLE MEGABYTE in just under 1 second. It comes with free Speedboost which boosts your speed almost double for the first bit of a download. And when I'm downloading something threw torrents, I've seen my downloads reaching a steady rate of around 15MBPS. Even though I'm only paying for 10mbps lol. It only takes me a little under 2 hours to download 8GB's!
I have a 100GB monthly transfer limit. But you don't get your connection cut like the many evil companies in USA.
If you keep going over your limit every month, they will send you a warning.. then another one after that.. So as long as your not going over the limit every month it's usually fine.
I can even get a 25MBPS connection... That's nearly 3MB a second. Or 8GB's in 41 minutes... Hardly a long time to wait to download a game.
Soon they will be upgrading to DOCSIS 3.0 also..Which introduces channel bonding to increase the capable speeds of cable internet by a large amount. Everyone on Shaw Cable internet will have even more speed when that's introduced.. I'd guess at least 10MBPS or more speed onto our plans.
I realize it's not like this around the whole world.. But this story is about the future, is it not? And in the future there will be a lot faster internet speeds available. (Hopefully less draconian Internet service providers will pop up in USA.. lol)
