Once an avid Ragnarok Online whore, now a fairly avid PS3 gamer.
I have had pretty much every system to date, and yes, even had a PS2 disk read error happen to me.
But I am a technologist in electronics engineering and computer hardware, so things like "disc read error" to me only mean "time to open'r up!".
Fixed countless PS2 consoles last generation. Had a 360 die on me after less then a month. haven't used a 360 in almost 2 years.
Only other console to ever go completely bat shit crazy on me was my Atari back in 1989.
was a Wii owner for 7 days, was not impressed.
Wii would lose controller sync very often, and the game that I bought the system for was freezing and responding terribly(Metroid 3).
Haven't had any issues with my PS3 so far, but occasional freezings do occur while browsing the internet, or playing the PS3 over time, usually this means having been using folding@home all night, then playing a game for more then 6 hours with out giving the PS3 a breather.
Not bad I have to say for being a launch 60GB model.

**UPDATE**
Had my 4th exchange PS3 unit come in with issues just like the rest after my original, of the writing above died finally from a power brick failure.
Now fighting Sony to fix what is rightfully mine, and failing at it.
