@ Ilinx
Us unfortunate Europeans never had BC through hardware (well apart from PS1 games) but all through software. My 60GB PS3 gives me BC to PS2 games via software, so in theory Sony could include this software in a future firmware update.

Now obviously, I don't know the ins and outs of how Sony does it's BC, but this is the information I've always read around the net. View

That's cool and all, I'm glad they've fixed the 'issue' with how long it took to connect to games - but when are we going to get rumble?? It's the game I play the most, but it's like the only game that doesn't have rumble....

Anyone know if/when they're going to include rumble? View

"Backwards compatibility is a big issue. That's why Microsoft and Nintendo have it."

That's why Sony has it too. My PS3 (and millions of others) play PS2 games without problem. I've never understood this whole thing about attacking Sony about BC, when they give you a choice to have it or not. If you want it, you'll have to pay a bit more to get it but those who don't want it wont have to spend as much.

People are just trying to pick at problems which don't exist. The media and web forums have picked up on something which they think they can create into a negative thing against Sony and have TRIED to turn it into something and people like you my friend have been brain washed by them.

Oh and for the record, I've never once put a PS2 game into my PS3 and with all the games out and coming out, I don't think I ever will. So even though I have BC, I've never used it. When I got my PS3 though, there was only the 60GB model so I didn't have a choice. View

For everyon's information, this is for the Xbox 360 version as well as the Playstation 3 version. See direct link to GAMES's website, listing the products (including The Club) that use this promotion, under the alternative links.

Nice find btw! View

I find having a US PSN account just spoils the UK PSN update each week for me, since we just get all the US content a few weeks later... View

You haven't set up an American PSN account yet? It's very very easy to do, just be sure to have a valid US postal address (can be anything, so just google!) and a different PSN username and e-mail(I think you need a different e-mail). When you add a new user, just be sure to select USA from the drop down and then follow all the rest and you'll be hooked up to the US PSN store straight away. Enjoy! View

No problem here either and haven't had any problems since I got my PS3 back in May.... just been playing some COD4 for the past 4 hours too.

Are we going to have to put up with 'news' posts every time one person can't connect to the PSN or Live from now on?? View

How about just not buying your children certain games? If a game shop does their job properly they shouldn't sell certain games to children under the set age limit for that game, and the only way for them to obtain those games is usually via their parents.

If your child does obtain a game they shouldn't have, then at least the PS3 does have parental control, albeit not one easy to understand. If Sony are going to use their own rating system, then they should at least explain it to people. View

Yeah, I've found the preview. It's from Eurogamer and is a pretty good read. Regarding what I said earlier:

"Rather than simply retelling the events of the TV series, Lost opts to tell the story of an entirely new castaway - a passenger on the ill-fated flight who wakes up in the jungle along with everyone else, and has his own pathway through the story of the show. The story of the game covers the first two seasons of the series (with certain landmarks, such as the Flame Station, from Season 3 - "when we were making the game, they were just starting to film season three," explains the game's producer) but tells an entirely new story that only crosses over with the antics of the central characters at key points."

If I remember correctly, I read in a previously posted preview that this game is based on the first two series, as when they started developing the game they hadn't started the third. So the game will likely be based loosely around the on-goings of those episodes and I'm sure they'll throw their own made up stuff in there too. View

That video is such a tease. You just see beautiful scenery with a few animals and then it starts setting on fire - that's it! You see more of the game in the screenshots in the other story http://www.n4g.com/NewsCom-...

Any idea when the 'full' trailer is going to be released?

@ Mighty Douche below: Cheers for that. I haven't looked into this game before now and it looks class. That is also the first time I've seen gameplay of this game. View

Oh dear, how did this get approved with so many channels when this only relates to the Wii version?? View

This thing is no better than Sky HD, but it isn't merely a device which allows you to watch freeview - and for the record if you don't have a TV with a freeview receiver, you'll still have to buy a setup box to receive them.

This is the equivalent to a Sky HD box but just for freeview and without all the sky channels. So you can watch one channel while recording another and you also have the PSP connectivity which is it's party trick. This is a real steal for people who don't have freeview already, or people who want to be able to have sky+ functionality with freeview. View

Isn't one of the points of modding to look cool? I remember reading somewhere that Sony originally planned to light up the PS button on the Sixaxis - anyone else remember this or am I just imagining things? lol

Also this story is well old and needlessly harsh. View

Is this a historic moment in time?? Not only did the UK PSN store get something before the US PSN store, but did we get something before XBL?

I agree with Barreldragon00, this game is good but nothing special for me to go out and buy over all the great games coming out. I need to be a little selective with so many games and so little money!! lol View

A few interesting points:

"4) A sturdy piece of hardware is very important in some European countries. This and many other things are the reason why Microsoft has a hard time here."

"Although this article points out the popularity of PC gaming in Europe, it fails to note that it is one of the reasons that the 360 is under-performing in comparison to the PS3.
To a certain extent the 360 is still regarded as a hobbled PC in a box (this was even more true of the original xbox) and most of its "console exclusives" are (or soon will be) available on the PC in superior versions"

Also some thoughts on the PS3 price point over here when compared to the rest of the world, as we pay the most. I think if they charged the same amount all over the world and reduced the price in Europe to match the rest of the world then they'd see much more sales. You are starting to see quite a few deals involving PS3's though, such as get a free PS3 with a mobile phone contract, or for buying AOL broadband, or a HD TV so you can get a PS3 easier over here by doing one of these. I would recommend you take some of the information on the official playstation site with a pinch of salt. If you go to the UK site and the Haze page, it still says the release date of November 2007!

Amazon.co.uk says "31 December 2008" ( http://www.amazon.co.uk/UBI... )
Game says "2008" ( http://www.game.co.uk/PS3/A... )
Gameplay says "25 January 2008" ( http://shop.gameplay.co.uk/... )
Play.com says "25 January 2008" ( http://www.play.com/Games/P... )
HMV says "1 February 2008" ( http://www.hmv.co.uk/hmvweb... )
CD Wow! says "18 January 2008" ( http://www11.cd-wow.com/det... )
Zavvi says "1 January 2020" ( http://www.virginmegastores... )

So the fact that pretty much everywhere has a different date tells me that no one knows when it's coming out, which would suggest it's not soon. View

I know I'll get loads of disagree's for this, but I personally don't want to be told what to do in a game. Some achievements are heading that way, forcing you to play certain parts of the games just to get some points. Aren't achievements meant to give you a reward for doing something good/unique in a game?

EDIT: What I'm saying is that I don't want to do stupid parts of games that aren't fun, just to get some achievement points. Some developers seem to strategically place points in certain places cause they know it will attract some people, and those places are sometimes the less interesting. View
