I've been saying exactly this on forums and elsewhere.

Sony's strategy is solid at present. The combined sales of the PSP, PS2 and PS3 make them the number 1, even though the Wii is outselling the Xbox 360 and PS3 when you just compare 'next gen'.

At best, the original Xbox still sells approximately 4 to 11 units across the US each week (yes, you can still get it in places) whereas the PS2 outsells the Xbox on it's own.

When any percentage of the 170 million PS2 owners eventually 'upgrade' to the PS3, that will be a serious force to be reckoned with and the PS3 will likely overtake the Xbox 360.

Currently, sales of the PS3 **when you line up the launch dates** are tracking the growth pattern of the Xbox 360 almost exactly, so the PS3 can't possibly be deemed a failure in any pro-X360 gamer's eyes... View

Great patch... adds some nice options in the lobby and game setup (ready for the Eliminator mode that is coming with the Weekend Pass on Thursday) and fixes a couple of exploits on two of the tracks to make it fairer for all of us... View

I'm getting the same. Can't access the PS Store since the update, and can't access some websites (not all) - returns a Network Error.

How many others have this issue? View

Nope...
The whole 'Motorstorm split-screen' argument is old, dull and not even necessary. Motorstorm needs split screen like a hole in the head. View

The jury is still out...
...I mean, it might actually be very good.

But since Sony have called it an interactive screensaver and, I understand, are calling it exactly that in their current marketing material, it makes me wonder if the magic of the original title will be lost. View

We know it's a PSN 'title'...
...that was never in question. But Sony themselves have said it is an interactive screensaver - sorry to disappoint... View

As I said in my PM to you...
...my source is SCEE themselves... Locoroco Cocoreccho is - in their own words - an "interactive screensaver" and not the title we were all hoping for... View

GT5 does have damage...
I thought everyone knew this, but apparently not.

Whilst GT5 Prologue won't have damage when it comes out this year to keep GT fans happy, the full GT5 for 2008 will have damage.

And knowing the anally-retentive detail Polyphonic go in to when developing, it'll be very realistic damage too. View

Because...
...it was recorded using a 'shaky cam' at the Develop conference as part of the keynote speech from it's creator, so not really a full 'showing' of the game but just a side piece around his speech... View

That'll be me...
I reported this story and it shouldn't have been pushed through the system, since I already posted this on YouTube and on N4G over 10 hours ago. The original story comes from my site a PS3Attitude.com and you can see I'm the creator at YouTube... View

Thanks

You're wrong
The figures are very clear.

The Wii is outselling both the PS3 and the X360.

The X360 and PS3 are on identical trend lines if you line up the launch dates.

The PS3 is now starting to generate a higher trend after the price drop and E3, and this will continue after the announcements to be made at Leipzig and Tokyo over the next three months.

Regardless of unit sales figures, the PS3 will generate a higher turnover and return for Sony due to the higher price and margins. Although the Wii is outselling the PS3 3:1, it is also priced 3 times cheaper.

Facts my friend - go check them all out and see for yourself. View

Some facts for you
In Japan, the X360 is a joke. Peter Moore's comments against the PS3 were laughable the other day. He said he was close to his 'business plan' in Japan. Wrong. His people stated they would sell 1,000,000 X360s in Japan by the end of 2006. They are still struggling at around 400,000 units after an extra 6 months.

In the US the PS3 outsold the Xbox 360 last week following the price drop and the good showing at E3. In fact, the combined PSP, PS3 and PS2 sales in the US last week ran to 135,301 units. Capcom know that this makes every Sony platform important to their future business.

Worldwide the PS3 is still behind the Xbox 360 (and both are WAY behind the Wii of course in terms of current weekly unit sales) but the trends show the PS3 will catch and pass in a year.

This report about Capcom is simply a 'Director's' statement to explain some losses on the accounts of the business. Consequently, it is a commentary on figures that are a year old and have no basis on today's sales of the various consoles. View

This is only GT4.5 really, and it still kicks ass
What you're seeing in the GT section is GT5: Prologue - not the full GT5 that will be available next year.

GT5: Prologue is a medium point that will keep us happy whilst we wait for the full experience. The full GT5 WILL include car damage, and very realistic damage at that.

In this video, Forza 2 looks like a last-gen title. Comparing GT5: Prologue with PGR4 is a bit mute also, since PGR4 looks more like a Burnout competitor than a proper simulator.

GT5: Prologue wins this round clearly against Forza 2 and I suspect that Burnout Paradise will give PGR4 a run for it's money. View

But then again...
...I've had stories 'reported' that have been completely valid because they offer a counterpoint or new angle. Because they may be 'based' on another story they've been reported as duplicates by people who've clearly not read the article.

Swings and roundabout I guess... View

Actually...
...Mr. Moore clearly said "That's probably a better question for Sony who's getting outsold by what, 6-to-1?".

It was the reporter writing the interview who clarified that the 6:1 ratio was only for June later in his story.

Peter Moore, like so many other execs before him (and not just within MS), has been stating the 6:1 figure far and wide as if it is the de-facto standard. Wii unit sales are 3:1 against the PS3 across the first 7 months since launch. View

Just because...
...our site is based on a blogging platform doesn't mean it is not a legitimate news site.

Like ThreeSpeech (who also use a blogging platform) we are not part of Sony but get to talk to Sony and developers, programme managers and directors of third and first-party development companies.

Just as the story about Peter Moore's comments is 'news', an independently written article that offers a counterpoint is as much a valid N4G story. View

Sick
Every piece of footage of Killzone 2 I see looks incredible.

I wasn't a fan of the first title on the PS2 but the isometric PSP version has kept me into the brand (probably one of the best PSP titles in fact). I'm now looking forward to wasting some Helghast scum in full 3D again! View
