In Japan, the X360 is a joke. Peter Moore's comments against the PS3 were laughable the other day. He said he was close to his 'business plan' in Japan. Wrong. His people stated they would sell 1,000,000 X360s in Japan by the end of 2006. They are still struggling at around 400,000 units after an extra 6 months.
In the US the PS3 outsold the Xbox 360 last week following the price drop and the good showing at E3. In fact, the combined PSP, PS3 and PS2 sales in the US last week ran to 135,301 units. Capcom know that this makes every Sony platform important to their future business.
Worldwide the PS3 is still behind the Xbox 360 (and both are WAY behind the Wii of course in terms of current weekly unit sales) but the trends show the PS3 will catch and pass in a year.
This report about Capcom is simply a 'Director's' statement to explain some losses on the accounts of the business. Consequently, it is a commentary on figures that are a year old and have no basis on today's sales of the various consoles.
