the most telling fact of the 360/ps3 console war ; in less then a year ps3 went from $600 to $400 (comparing 60GB to 40GB). it took MS 2 + years for them to get the pro system from $400 to $300, even after significantly dropping their production costs within the first year. here's and article showing they dropped production costs almost %40 in the first year(also compares their production costs to ps3's costs at the time)
http://www.xbitlabs.com/new... they took way too long to drop the price. they could have dropped the price alot in 2006 and Sony could not have matched since they were losing around $200 per console at the time. The setup for great 360 success was there......and they farted on it :P. MS shot themselves in the foot with mostly with their pricing($100 for wireless adapter is just plain greedy). adding the RROD problems didnt help.
still, my RROD'ing bastard is a damn fun console to play on.....good thing being 1st, 2nd, or last place in a console war wont change that
