Eurogamer Expo 09

Well, I have not long got back from the Eurogamer Expo (in Leeds) and thought I would share my experience as well as give you a chance to check out and insane amount of good quality footage and pictures of the great day!
My day started with a 6.30am wake up, a bus ride, train ride, and taxi ride - to finally get me and a couple of friends there, the doors opened for the general public at 11am, we were already there for around 9am, and luckily pretty close to the front of the line, where I was lucky enough to swag a few freebies (a WET T-shirt, and some random badges and stuff)
The actual gaming floors where split up between two buildings, the first included all the games up for playing as well as an 18+ only section, the second building (which oddly got very little attention for the first couple of hours) was home to the various gaming career opportunity booths, and oh a little game called God of War III, of course God of War III was one of the most popular games, and up close it did look absolutely stunning, and I had a 10 minute play myself.
Speaking of popular games, perhaps a little surprisingly (well for me anyway) Alien Vs. Predator was without a doubt the biggest game of the expo (biggest as in the most people lining up to have a play!) and I didn't get a chance on it.
The floor was generally easy to access, with waiting to get on games being around 10-15 minutes at most (with the exception of God of War III)
See below for many links to pretty high quality footage of many games, I filmed the biggest titles there.
It wasn't easy either, apparently none of them wanted their games being filmed, and someone from Ubisoft even told me that they weren't even suppose to have this build of Assassins Creed 2 on show, so although I started to film that little gem, I only managed to snag a little bit.
A Few Game Impressions:
Assassin's Creed II
: Everything about it has been changed, and the Ubisoft dude told me they basicly looked at the first game, asked themselves what they could improve on and then started from scratch, Personaly..I think the visuals from the FIRST game are more impressive than the visuals from the Second, But heck, My pre-order still stands!
God of War III
:
Looks stunning of course, and has a constant epic feel to it too, this is a must get for the PS3!
Dante's Inferno
:
I was expecting a lot from this game..but graphics wise, and gameplay wise it was a big let down, although I'm sure it will be much more polished by release date, it looks like just a rent for me.
Heavy Rain
:
To me, this game still looks like nothing but a long cutscene with quick time events and the odd slowly walking around..I got bored playing this.
Hmm that's about all I can think of for now, My brain is frazzled!
The only game I wanted to get footage of, but couldn't was Mass Effect 2, a member of staff stood there the entire day making sure nothing like that was going to happen...Ah well.
I was also pretty skyed because I got to meet someone I met over some playstation forums about a year ago, and he turned out to be a great guy and I spent most of my time there with him.
(Oh Hai! Seedy!)
On other amusing topics, My friend was filmed by BBC Look North (Semi-National TV) and I got filmed for a mini interview too, which is apparently going to turn up on "Screen Yorkshire"
After around 4 or 5 hours it was a train ride home, and a Mcdonalds dinner for me ;) it was an amazing day, and if you ever get a chance, even if it means having to travel a little bit, check out a gaming expo, its an amazing experience, I know I'll be going back next year! - And Although I now feel exhausted, I can't think of a better way to spend the a day if you're a big fan of gaming.
Don't forget to check out the links below, of videos I spent my time filming so the ones who couldn't make it can still check out footage of anticipated upcoming games, and Subscribe if you can :)
Now if you'll excuse me, my eary acess demo of Left 4 Dead 2 is calling
