There have been numerous comparisons going around comparing Sony's GT5 or GT5: Prologue to Microsoft's Forza 3. Each title looks great in many regards, but the gamers want to know which title is superior. With a brilliantly made comparison video, gamers may finally have an answer to that question.

Hope that type of glaring fault is fixed before the finished version releases.

Stupid comparisons, wait till GT5. But then, Forza will be old.
GT5p's lighting makes it look much better. If Forza had its lighting, it would match GT5 I think. Forza enviorments look better though.

I'm curious how many GT5 / Forza3 comparisons we'll gonna see when GT5 hits next year. I think, I already know. 0 (as in Zero!). Wanna bet ? Because nobody will care about Forza3 then.

/Rant. I'm just pissed that Forza fans need GT to sell their game. GO.

Texture pop ins or not, I think Forza 3's environments look better right now. But then again, he used two of the blandest tracks in GT5P. Not sure why he didn't use something like Eiger Nordwand where there are actually mountains and stuff in the background. They are snowy, but they are actually there.

GT5p easily beats Forza 3 when it comes to vehicles. But regardless, it's a racing game, and the most important aspect of any racing game are the physics. So when it comes down to it, I don't really care if GT5 has more detailed tracks/cars than Forza 3. I want to play whichever game has better physics. Given PD's track record (no pun intended) I'd imagine their game will reign supreme in both aspects.

GT5p has the best "driving" physics so far. How much good if you ask then I might answer like "Learn through GT to win the real life racing" good.

Of course GT5p has neither flipping nor crashing, but who cares? Racing is racing. Not crashing. Though generous Yamauchi decides to show some damages in GT5 lol.

also another thing that ppl forget is the little face that GT5:P runs at 1280x1080=1382400 and Forza 3 runs at 1280x720=921600

1382400/921600=1.5
GT5:P Engine put out 1.5 times more pixles on the screen, and if you are lucky enough to own a 1080P TV you know how sharp GT5:P looks only second to Wipeout:HD

Also GT5:P feature 16 cars on some tracks while Forza 3 has 8 cars, that's ~2 times more polygon, more texture, more shaders, more AI to handle, more awesomeness;) etc etc

I still don't get how there is a debate. FM3 looks great... don't get me wrong... its just when I see videos or screens of FM3 I instantly know its a game. When I look at screens/videos of GT5 I can barely tell if its a game or real life. FM3 looks like a video game, GT5 goes beyond that. Something about FM3's color palette and just overall looks does not convey realism as well as GT5 regardless of pixels or details.

Those shots are telling us one thing. And that's the 360 doesn't have enough juice for more than 8 cars on screen, highly detailed car textures, higher polygon car models, and higher native output resolution. It also tells us another thing. It is possible to have a highly detailed textured high polygon model when the 360 is rendering one car on screen. This also tells us another thing. It's not entirely impossible for the PS3 to render the CGI-quality Ferrari in the 458 Italia tribute, since it's only rendering ONE car.

Or another possibility. The Forza 3 graphics engine just isn't all that good. Because even when the 360 is pitted to render one car and not have to deal with the physics calculation, the car still doesn't look as good as the cars in GT5p replay mode.

Exactly paskowitz.

At last a very good comparison video. It show the strengths and weaknesses of both but the number of 'that looks real' moments with GT is obvious to any car fans with a taste for reality and without console bias.

Forza spends it's detail in equal measures to scenery and cars but GT spends it all on the cars and rely's on clever palette subtleties and textures to create a nice illusion on the backdrops.

The PS3 does render cars at the level of detail as the ferrari 457 italia and if theres a vid to prove it, it's this one from GT5:P, just look at the extrodinary amount of detail in that headlight, it's simply photo realistic.

http://www.youtube.com/watc...

And lets not remind ourselves that GT5:P is 2 years old, just as Uncharted and we've seen the leaps and bounds in ND's understanding in the PS3's architecture, so there's no reason PD hasn't improved their engine since 2007.

Well Forza fans can talk about their 'superior' graphics all they want. I'll enjoy driving through every track at night time and seeing the truly brilliant lighting engine of GT5 working to the fullest extent. Driving through the London track seeing the building lights/billboards lighting my path. Or maybe Special Stage Route 5 with it's brillant tunnel lighting.

http://www.youtube.com/watc...

Who can honestly deny that they don't want to play that track with the graphics and lighting of GT5?

Sony boys are very sneaky when it comes to GT5. In-car pics showing the nice models of the game, but what about the extremely poor backgrounds? I mean, everything in GT5 looks subpar compared to Forza 3 except from the cars. The only good looking backgrounds (like that icy mountains) are bitmaps that obviously, don't reflect in the cars.

The trees in GT5 (The one shown at TGS not GT5P are basically textured pyramids to put an example.

Sure you can make extremely good looking cars when most of the console's power is used to move them, but what about the rest? Going slow, as the destructoid article says, is an invite for dissapointment in GT5.

They are currently experiencing some heavy framerate dropdowns so logic tell us they're going to have to cut edged to stabilize it instead of improving in visual fidelity.

To be honest, Forza seemed much more 'alive' and exciting to me.
The backgrounds were richer and seemed 'fuller', immersing and involving the viewer in the driving experience.

GTp in comparison, while also looking very nice, seemed to lack the sparkle and excitement that was evident in forza. During the GTp scenes i wondered whether i was actually watching a sterilised and watered down version of forza...

Now that i have mentioned this, readers may be inclined to watch the video again and observe what it is that i am referring to.

This is nothing new, however.
I have played GTp on a friend's ps3 and i wasn't really impressed.
In fact, I was bored.

I know that this will upset a lot of people, but I still feel it is better to be honest, even with the threat of ps3 fan backlash, which has unfortunately reduced my bubble count, even though i generally just post facts and fair opinion.

What's more, I have read numerous other posts, from non-biased gamers and reputable sites that echo this sentiment, even going so far as referring to GT5 as 'clinical' and 'sterile'.

No doubt i will garner a lot of hate for simply being honest, as lately there seems a rabid horde of angry ps3 fans is cutting down anyone that does not trip over themselves with ps3 praise.

Sad.
N4g used to be full of gamers.
Now it's just stalkers (eg: darkride66) and predominantly ps3 fanboys.

What I find impressive in GT5P is when you do the S class race where you got to pass all the cars in one lap, its like a traffic jam of beautifull cars and still runs smooth. Nothing drives as well as GT IMO.

If I felt like searching for prologue F ups I would. Lol I've seen disappearing scenery and walls and all kinds of stuff. It happens in all games. It happens in Uncharted 2 also. Although I think that was because it was changing hosts. It started going all crazy and the level was overlapping, weirdest stuff I've ever seen. I'm sure I'll get disagrees because it's a PS3 game, but that's the only system I currently own so I'm not out 2 bash it's games lol. Gears is a classic example. KZ2 I've seen some really funny things with convulsing dead people and guys walking off ledges for no reason. Last night on Uncharted I got stuck in a door frame and was like dancing for a good 6 seconds before it let me move again. Sh*t happens.

Not only does it look better and more realistic, it sounds better. GT:P sounds like they recorded every sound of the vehicle and implemented it. Forza sounds like they slapped generic engine sounds on.

Just wait 'till GT5 and you see the features packed in there... what? what is that? you like automotive car shows on tv? Gosh, you're right, it would be nice to have a car show themed & dedicated to GT5 for the PS3. Gee, who would have thought of that... :P
