Blu-ray Sales Down to Start November

"For the week ended November 9, Blu-ray Disc sales accounted for only 8% of home video sales versus 92% for DVD per numbers released by Home Media Retailing today. In the past several months, Blu-ray had accounted for anywhere from 10 to 15 percent of all sales..."

1 - So...
...does this mean that we'll get a story on "Blu-ray sales up, after Blu-ray sales down"? Because it seems that unless Blu-ray sells more every week than the last, someone always has to act like it's dead. Obviously sales should go down, after a blockbuster title like Ironman. Just like they will go down once the Dark Knight frenzy subsides. Whoever posted this story should get banned.

All I hear is Blu-ray sales are down...according to all of the reports, Blu-ray should account for only .00000000001% by now.

1.2 - Oh look!
Looks like another HD-DVD fan posting up some BD bad news... If you could call it bad news. Can't we just let the animosity die already? Heck, all I see is the natural cycle moving at its pace of sales up... sales down... sales up... sales down... Nothing new here, nothing to see. Move along folks.

I doubt it's an HD-DVD fan posting this stuff. I doubt there are many fans of unsupported, dead technology. This was likely just an attempt to raise the ire of fanboys, and I'm pretty sure that it's going to work.

@kapedkrusader

That's exactly what it means. Someone's going to get their feelings hurt over this article and go out and find the best Blu-ray news ever to post.

You just wait for *insert movie here* to come out. Then everyone in the world will throw out their existing televisions and dvd players and upgrade to the latest in home theater technology. Because all it takes is the right movie.

I refuse to buy dvd's now... They look so blah to me. Blu-ray will be just fine naysayers. Stop being butt hurt all the time. Sure sales are down this week... they had like 3 releases last week and DVD still have the higher market penetration for being out over 11 years now.

Remember Ironman? Sold really well and still is. think about Wall-E and Dark Knight. Then look to next year when Star Wars hits. Blu-ray isn't going anywhere and it's a shame people wish it would cause it's clearly the best format on the market.

Blu-ray could account for 99% of home media sales and all you would hear is how Blu-ray couldn't get 100%

I don't know about other people but I'll be buying more Blu-rays from now on. I finally have an HDTV which is 1080p and so it makes more sense to buy them over DVDs. Iron Man in 1080p looks great. I think it will be just like the change from VHS to DVD. That didn't happen over night either. Now try to find VHS tapes.

you can still find vhs tapes at the dollar store and vhs players at bargain stores and these are still fairly new. i dont think a real time dvd recording player was ever made to people who still tape on vhs exist.

Don't try to figure out why you get a disagree on this site. I've got them before after posting something that was just fact and couldn't be seen as a fanboy post by anyone with a brain. Too bad this site doesn't let us see who disagrees with us. Then we could look for their posts and disagree all the time. It was probably some idiot who does that to you.

12 - DVDs sales include
dvd sales include dvds used for making games. dvds packs you buy to burn things to ps2,wii,xbox 360 dvds and lets not forget the mini dvds for camcorders.

bluray sales only include movies and ps3. until an affordable bluray burner comes out and price of blank bluray comes down. dvd market will dominate. its a slow process get over it.

Blu Ray being down IS newsworthy. It's news, but the problem is when someone assumes something based on the news. In other words, don't assume that this little slice of news automatically means Blu Ray is dead.

I love bluray , it looks incredible. But I have not bought a movie since Iron Man. There just too expensive. Plus with all the games that have come out the past 2 months I could care a less about them.

Of course The Dark Knight will be an instant buy but those are rare these days. $35.00 for Commando!!! WTF!
