NXE Loading problem Dead Rising?

Gamemakerman50 writes:

Tried to take some more comparison times with HDD and DVD games, actually came over a place where the HDD was much slower then the DVD. First sign of potential problems playing from HDD?

Yeah i think an update will fix this or if not its just a minor problem with a few games hard drive was never gonna be the perfect fix for earlier games as they were never made to run from a hard drive! you gotta remember that! later games may be optimized for dumping to HDD.. not for about a year though at least as games currently in development would be too late in dev to be changed to add changes a bit like why ps3 games are only just getting trophy support even though its been out nearly a year.

You people think something will come out and be perfect from day 1 you really don't learn do ya?

When he goes out of the mall and confronts the convicts in the car it loads a lil over 5 seconds from the DVD. It takes a lil over 18 seconds off the HDD.

hasn't it already been stated that most OLDER games wont benefit much from the install because they have already be optimized for the BEST performance already. but the newer games coming out WILL take advantage of it.

also out of all the games that people have tested they had to go all they way back to a 1st year 360 game to find one with a hitch. this could be like backwards compatibility, not all titles work flawlessly!!but wharever!! what ever it takes to put a negative spin on something.

5 - do you guys think?
this whole install games to the HDD is in part due to the PS3 becoming the lead on a lot of games?

just asking
not flaming

anything to help help your machine run a game is always good! If you have the space i guess

No.

Nothing to do with the ps3. It's to reduce drive spin for reliability and noise issues, and provide a speed boost on loads.

The 'installs' aren't installs like the ps3 does, they're disc rips that mount an image of the game onto a virtual drive and run it from there.

I don't think there is anything 'virtual' about this - A virtual drive is when your emulating some form of drive whether its a hard drive, a floppy, dvd etc.

Here the whole games i just getting offloaded from the disc to the hard drive and is running directly from the drive.

The disc remains in the slot to verify you own the game but, its not 'mounting' the dvd, its physically ripping a copy from it and running that ripped copy from the hard drive opposed to the DVD.

No different than me installing a p.c game onto my p.c - im not installing it onto any virtual drive, its just a drive.

Or were you referring to the ps3 being virtual drives, sorry I wasn't sure after re-reading that last sentence.

Most likely nobody, but MS knows how the implementation is done behind this. Most likely they did the safe route and did what edhe said. First do the physical disc check, them mount the image as the device that the game would normally read from (or at least redirect it). This to ensure there is maximum compatibility.

A PC install on the other hand moves files to different directories and registers all sorts of drivers and registry settings. So they are most likely very different in behavior during install process. The PC installation is more like the PS3, if anything....

no and before you ask this wont help with RROD as your 360 will still be using all the same graphical hardware it just wont be using the disc drive as much which wasnt the reason for RROD like 90% of fanboys claim.
