Cnet: Dual shock 3 Review
15
The good: Wireless PS3 controller with rumble support; slightly heavier, which gives it a bit more heft than the feather-light Sixaxis controller; rumble function added to many existing games via downloadable patches.
The bad: Somewhat overpriced; doesn't come with a USB cable for recharging; rechargeable battery isn't removable.

But Cnet did a feature a while back on the best controllers of all time. I wonder if a PS3 controller made the list this time.

2 - Bout time this came out over here in the uk.
The six axis is way to light and flimsy in feel imo. Feel sorry for those that have to upgrade there control just to get rumble. This year is gonna be expensive enough for gamers without this added exspense.
Now if they could only sort out the trigger buttons...

The trigger buttons are fine on the ds3/sixaxis. Not as good as the triggers on the 360, but still good enough. What they really need to do is tighten up the analog sticks. ps3 controller + 360 analog sticks = perfect controller

2.2 - you said
that this is expensive, well think of it like this, the 360 wireless controller is cost more than the SIXAXIS. maybe not not at first (both are $49.99) but when you want to charge up your controllers you can get a cheap usb cable with a ps3; with the 360 buy AA or a rechargeable pack...so in the end, the ps3 controllers are cheaper, plus better than the 360's controller, imo

4 - The complaints are rediculous
I play a good amount and still haven't had to replace the battery. Isn't there a tutorial on how to do it? Won't Sony do it for you? You also get the cable to charge your controller with the PS3. Why do you need 2? If you're playing with one you charge the other and switch off.
It has motion control and rumble. Enough said.

Not having a charger would be a pain in the ass when you're using more than one controller a lot and they're both running out. I imported my ds3 months ago, and since then i've noticed the battery charge is a little shorter than the sixaxis, so it could be an issue.

4.2 - I'm going to get two DS3's
That will make 4 controllers. I doubt I will ever run out of a charge.
On the plus side, Motorstorm 2 will have split screen. Two DS3's rumbling away while myself and a friend drive our asses off.

5 - "No removable battery pack"
I had a small chuckle when I read that as a negative. Nothing pissed me off more than when I opened my 360 to realize the wireless controllers didn't even come with battery packs, and I'd have to fork over more money for the "play'n'charge" kits.
Plus, why not just keep your older Sixaxis controllers around? I'm going to pick up two DS3's, but I'll keep my 2 current Sixaxis controllers. Not really a big deal to me.

Not having a charge cable for DS3 is bad. lol. It's a standard USB cable that comes with the PS3 for gods sake.. Yet on the 360 you have to purchase everything for the 360 controllers as extra's eg charge kit.
Overall the DS3 is a miles better controller than the 360 crap controller.

7 - This review from that guy is F**ked !
"A" hole, You can easily buy a USB cord from Sony and just plug it in and charge the thing. The guy reviewing the DS3 makes it sound like once the battery goes dead you have to buy a new controller. This is 2008.

8 - I actually never charge more than one controller at a time
I don't think these reviewers realize that the PS3 comes with a standard USB cord that connects your PSP and PS3 controllers. No big loss, though it would be neat to have two cords.
And I don't know ANY devices with replaceable Lithium-ion batteries, so it's not even a valid complaint. I agree on the high price, but it's still cheaper than a Wii-Mote. (both have force feedback and motion sensing)

The batteries will die huh? Well the Money I saved from the years and years of NOT buy Rechargable batteries like the 360 would be more than enough to buy a FEW more PS3 controllers.. As far as people saying the Triggers on 360s controllers are better.. Opinion.. My personal feeling is PS3 are better because they arent soo close together and not soo high.. When I play my friends 360.. I cant hit seems to hit the rite trigger cause they are soo close together.. and they feel the same.. Ps3 is Nice they are well spaced and you can tell which is which.. Best of all they arent super high.. I can hit all the trigger buttons at one time if i wanted.. 360s you really cant do that comfortably
Another thing.. who cares about another USB.. Go buy the 20 doller PS3 licences dual charger.. Its stylish and charges 2 controllers

10 - why not a 9.2 or something?
if i remember correctly, the last time i went into the gamestop, and saw a SIXAXIS it didnt have s usb cable, the reason sony is doing this (it's on the PS site) is because the usb mini-b cable is a common household product, and if you can afford another controller, then you can surely get a usb cable for $9.99...also it would make sense that the rumble is causing the battery to lose life quicker than the SIXAXIS, like a cell phone, if you text on it all day and dont talk, you will have more battery than if you talk all day and dont text (or both)...and the overprice thing? thats just a little to extreme, sony knows what they are doing...they KNOW people wanted rumble...stop complaining and be happy sony is answering your needs
