Meijer Offers Only Blu-ray On Web site

For now, Blu-ray Disc has an edge at regional mass merchant Meijer, which began offering Blu-ray titles exclusively on its Web site in mid-September.

The site offers about 300 Blu-ray titles, which is a full representation of releases that studios have streeted to this point.

Numbering about 180 outlets across Michigan, Indiana, Illinois, Kentucky and Ohio, Meijer does offer a limited number of both Blu-ray and HD DVD titles in stores.

Meijer director of e-commerce marketing Dawn Bronkema said
"Blu-ray is currently outselling HD DVD with a ratio of four-to-one,"

OKay then Good for Blu-Ray..but I mean these Blu-Ray outselling HD-DVD post is getting really cheesy....how about we just let HD-DVD fade into obscurity..in peace..!!!

I really hope that Br wins. And thats not just the fact that I have a br player (ps3), but for once, consumers are choosing the superior format. With Beta going away despite its advantages over VHS, price was always THE factor.

I live in Michigan where there are a ton of Meijers (the company was started in MI) and this is a good thing if they acutaly let people know BD is there. I went into a Meijer last week and just discovered that they carried some BD movies. I was shocked that they weren't advertising them a bit more.

most meijer stores carry both formats, My meijer store the anderson, and fishers meijer all carry both formats but only carry cheap RCA hd dvd players.

They drag their spoiled kids out and when the kid sees a movie they like in blu-ray he goes ape nuts begging his mom to buy it cuz he read online that his PS3 can play it on his SD TV with no home theater and has to have it since he read online that BD is the ultimate king of kings and annoys his mom until she buys it.

This isn't news. This is some Sony fan exec making a decision. When Walmart, Target, BB, CC and the like go 100% BD exclusive, then THAT is news. A grocery store chain... Not news

I definitely was disappointed when I heard Blockbuster was going to favor BD (Sony paying $? I think so, especially since Blockbuster has been financially unstable in the past few years). Rumor has it (AND THIS IS ONLY RUMOR) that Blockbuster in Canada will be carrying both formats in November. This may be only one store, it may be all of Canada but let's face it... Blockbuster is missing out NOT carrying HD DVD.

Blockbuster already made the jump to blu-ray only in most of its stores (1200 out of 1450 stores) which will have more impact IMO than any retailer. Alot of people will get their first experience to blu-ray via walking into their local blockbuster.

Please, get rid of the bull$hit articles about hd dvd and blu ray. I don't care any more! I'm not buying anything HD until they are priced the same as regular DVD and their is a clear and unquestionable winner. Until then, PLEASE!!!!!! this is a gaming site!
