Sony the savoir of gaming based on comments on n4g.

S2Killinit18d ago

Well, when they are going up against MS, the bar is really low.

FinalFantasyFanatic17d ago

At this point, it's probably better to match them up with Nintendo, I don't think they'll have to worry about Xbox for a long time if ever again.

Rynxie18d ago

Folks, buy starship troopers: extermination for PC. The real bug slaying game! It's also 16 player co-op. Support the federation, not the fake copy.

StormSnooper18d ago

You win stupidest comment of the month.

ChronoJoe18d ago

It’s alright but honestly soo dull compared to Helldivers 2. The systemic design in HD2 makes for a much more interesting game.

anast17d ago

Unfortunately, Starship Troopers isn't a good game. This is usually the case for PC games.

S2Killinit17d ago

Starship troopers doesn't really hold a candle to Helldivers. But, I wouldn’t say its “bad” per se.

Even with this issue, I bet you can't name anyone else who is doing it better.

Kaii18d ago

I believe Sony wants to pump up those (monthly active users) stat for their next investor call.

I'd like for people not to support corps so blindly, they don't care about you.

Magatsuhi18d ago

It was supposed to be a requirement from the beginning. Quit being hyperbolic.

No other corporate body would temporarily disable it to allow easier access. Now things are better and peak player count is gone and that makes Sony evil?

People are stupid

S2Killinit18d ago (Edited 18d ago )

Yep. Its right there in the article. Sony waived the requirement temporarily, but now people are upset that the requirement to log in is being enforced as previously intended.

arkard18d ago

It was Arrowheads ceo decision to temporarily disable it. Here is his post https://www.reddit.com/r/He...

The only people I agree with in all this are the people that bought in countries that can't get psn accounts. Everyone else either missed the requirement which was their fault or is trying to drum up drama.

--Onilink--18d ago

Why even sell the game in those countries then? If you want to take the conversation to the game having the requirement since the very beginning, then the game should have never been listed by Sony in any country other than the 69 they support.

There is literally 0 reasons that benefit any gamer by being forced to create/link a PSN account, therefore 0 reason to support Sony’s dumb decisions regarding this

anast17d ago

@Oni

You are correct, but it doesn't matter. There is also 0 reason to support Steam but people do anyway.

What I've come to realise is PC users hate multiple stores/log in's. How do you square that circle with your politics? Because if everything must be on Steam and under steams system that looks a lot like corporate communism. I don't remember people complaining about multiple stores when you had to get off your backside and go into them to buy your game.

franwex18d ago

Gamers are extremely tribal. I got downvoted to oblivion once for stating that I bought a game on epic store when I could’ve gotten it on steam instead. But it’s the same PC, what difference does it make? I can understand tribalism with consoles somewhat (though it’s getting harder and harder to justify), but when it’s the same hardware, just downloaded from a different website? It’s like getting mad at someone for buying a game on Amazon, when they could’ve bought it at Walmart.

Inverno18d ago

Because buying a game on steam only to be forced to download another launcher to be able to play it is dumb. People shouldn't hafto jump through hoops just to play something they payed for. Last i checked we never bought a game at Best buy but were forced to pass by a GameStop so we can actually play it. Corporate dictatorship is more like it, consumers don't hafto take it.

Christopher18d ago

If this were true, then they would have attacked Ubisoft, EA, Take2, 2k, and more.

FinalFantasyFanatic17d ago

I honestly wish Steam had more competition, I really wanted it to be GOG, but the closest we got was Epic, and even that wasn't a good match against Steam. Steam has its own issues like its hatred towards anime games/Visual Novels, and inconsistent censorship (Who on the approval team OKed "Furry Sex with Hi*ler", but banned 2 out of 3 Dungeon Traveller games?).

I just hate how every publisher has to have their own Store, I don't mind stores that serve games from numerous developers like Steam/GOG/Epic/Etc... But when I need a launcher for Bethesda Games (which died and transferred my games like Doom Eternal to Steam), EA, Rockstar, etc... Each with their own logins and DRM (I love that GOG is DRM free), it gets really annoying. I tolerate it, but it's certainly not ideal, if you're going to have your own storefront, at least don't make me install another launcher, or make it optional (at least JAST/Manga Gamer don't do that to me).

P_Bomb18d ago

I wonder if they can turn this back, somehow? Probably not if they’re already delisting the game in certain countries. But something has gotta be learnt from all this.

FinalFantasyFanatic17d ago

Some countries don't even have PSN, so obviously they would at least need a solution for those people, or maybe allow some sort of global PSN ID so that they can play.

goldwyncq18d ago

For anyone who wants a Sony monopoly, this is a preview of what you'll get.

derek18d ago (Edited 18d ago )

Yes because only Sony has required you to have a free account to play an online game, lol. You guys are ridiculous, this has been a thing for Microsoft and all of their online games for years same for Rockstar, abk, ubisoft etc etc.

NotoriousWhiz18d ago

When did any of those other companies remove a paid game from the accounts of users in 100+ different countries?

derek18d ago (Edited 18d ago )

@Notorious, are you in one of those countries? If not then save your phony moralizing for someone else. None of you guys actually care and for many of these people you fake concern over they've operated under this requirement without issue when they play cod or gta etc. But this phony outrage campaign will cause publishers to reconsider given their legal exposure. And they didn't remove the game from people who have already bought it, they removed it from being sold going forward.

Big update, I've decided to hire @ShamsJorjani as the new CEO of @ArrowheadGS ! We go way back and I wouldn't trust the business in any other hands than his. (...and he comes with an impressive resume and love for games)

But what about me and my involvement in @Helldivers2 ? Well, I'm glad you asked! I am taking the role of Chief Creative Officer, which means I will spend MORE time with the team and 100% of my focus on the games and community!"
