Anyone loose a torso?
Call it a weakness but I will try any game where bodies can be dismembered. It doesn't matter how good or bad the game is I will try it just to cut some heads off. Conan was no different in this aspect, I saw some game play videos of guys loosing arms and I was all over it a few days after it came out.

Conan could have an interesting story if it had been told better. In the beginning of the game Conan finds himself freeing and unleashing the wrath of an evil wizard. After loosing the battle he finds himself washed up on a shore and from there he is off on a quest to find and kill this wizard. No spoilers here so if you want to see more based on my very vague description you will have to go check the game out.

As much as I love God of War, Conan may actually have the best combos I have ever seen in a game. Dismembering enemies in Conan is more satisfying then in any game I have played to date. Also the ability to pick up different types of weapons really adds some variety to the formula, and allows you to experience a vast array of those previously mentioned combos. I was pleasantly surprised when I saw the type of variety that Conan offered. Every boss fight is different and requires you to use different tactics and each level has small puzzles to break up the combat.

As you play through Conan you will probably realize that the game is a poor man's rip-off of God of War. Although the combos are possibly more entertaining, everything else in the game falls very short of the game it so desperately tries to emulate. Those boss fights I mentioned, while imaginative, are more frustrating than challenging. I can't tell you how many times I died exclusively due to poor game design. Also the game presentation as a whole feels like it was cheaply slapped together. The graphics are awful, the voice-overs are not all that great and the story is so poorly told that even if it was a good story you wouldn't know it. Although there are some puzzles to break up the action, they are so easy and just plain boring that they might as well not even be in the game.

One thing is for sure and that is that Conan is a complete rip-off of God of War. Not that I have any problems with rip-offs when they are done well but a game like Conan falls so far short that it is almost embarrassing. Those of you who are fans of action games may enjoy this one but most of you will probably have trouble seeing it through to the end.
Ups
Great combos
A wide variety of weapons and tools at your disposal
Downs
Frustrating and poorly-designed boss fights
Poor general game design
Fairly short game
Rating Comments
4.0 Graphics
Although it's not the worst looking 360 game I have seen, the graphics from top to bottom look like they belong on the last generation.
5.0 Sound
Sound effects are alright but below-average voice-overs, awful dialog and dumb phrases thrown around during combat will make you want to stab yourself in the ears.
8.3 Gameplay
The combos are ridiculously fun but unfortunately the gameplay is ruined by frustrating boss fights.
7.2 Fun Factor
Any fun will either fade or be sucked out of you before you finish. However, once again the combos and dismembering will offer something for most action fans.
