Mortal Kombat Is Back!!
After having seen this game announced, i was instantly hyped up, as i have been a Mortal Kombat fan since having played Deception on the PS2. I know, it wasn't the original, but i have played all of them since i first did. Well. Except Shaolin Monks.

Once MK vs DCU had been released, my PSN buddies had all said that it was a truly stunning game, although i rarely saw them on it. I decided to check out the forums, and all i saw, was bad, bad bad. This was only because of the lack of gore, and the poor fatalities.

But, despite what i read, i was still looking forward to this game. And, for Christmas i got it! I played it straight away, and the first thing i noticed: The graphics. Stunning. I had always been stunned by the Mortal Kombat graphics, and this game failed to dissapoint. I started off the story mode. As i had always played the Mortal Kombat story, i decided to play the DC Universe side.

So, the first character you play as is The Flash. Thats all i will tell you about who you play as when, otherwise it will ruin the story for you. So , as the flash, you face 4 different enemies, and the first one you face is DeathStroke. To be honest, i had never heard of him until this game.

When you start the game, like me, some of you might pop up the start menu and check out the moves list. You see all of the special moves, and instantly use them all. As The Flash, it is nearly impossible to break his special moves, which is why online, most people play as The Flash (But most people who do are terrible).

So the Story mode goes in chapters. Of course, Chapter 1 for DC is The Flash, on which you face 4 different enemies, in 4 locations. With each character, you face 3 or 4 enemies. However, one thing i noticed, sometimes, with 2 of the enemies, you fight in the same place, which limits the exploration of all of the maps, although you do play on all of the maps. But i just think that it is a bit boring for the player to be on the same map 2 times in a row (But being such a huge Mortal Kombat fan, it didn't bother me).

The Arcade mode is the original. You choose your character, and fight your way through a tower of enemies, however, the different thing here, is that there are added DC Universe characters.
Practice mode is also there, the same basic idea as the other MK games, you practice! The pressed buttons appear on screen, everything.

The main thing that people dislike about this game is the lack of Gore, blood and good fatalities. I'll tell you this. Don't listen. This game is amazing! The amount of blood still applies to the fun, the fatalities are still good fun to perform, and so are the Heroic Brutalities. If you really don't like the lack of blood, you will realise that when you get hit multiple times, you get bruised, your clothes rip etc. This also happened in previous MK games, but it was never unleashed as well as this.

The best Mortal Kombat game i have ever played, and easily the best fighting game of 2008. Never gets boring!

Rating Comments
10 Graphics
Great textures using Unreal Engine, haven't seen any Bad graphics yet.
9.0 Sound
Awesome sound, however, if using 5.1 surround sound, not many things can be behind you.
10 Gameplay
Great story mode with a good storyline.
10 Fun Factor
Special moves are cheesy, but in a good way, its funny, the fighting system is great! Also, there are trophies, which will have you going back over this game again and again, but it won't get boring!
10 Online
No lag, fun to play with others to see what kind of noobs there are :)
9.8
Overall
(out of 10 / not an average)
