Old School Game with Innovative Ideas.
There are many games in which also fall into the ever growing genre of Asteroids-like games. Despite there being many similarities of the Everyday Shooter in comparison with other games, the game still stands on it owns merits for bringing new ideas to the table. Just like Geometry Wars: Retro Evolved brought a new life to the genre, so does Everyday Shooter. The games doesn't just focus on the game play but also on music track, which is a interactive experience, and a unique art scheme.
As soon as you boot the game, the simpleness of the game may seem like a drawback since there is no multiplayer and no online functionality at all. However, Everyday Shooter presentation to not stray away the player from the intentions that the 1 man creator intended. Everyday Shooter is meant to be a "pick-me-and-play" game with little need for instructions on how to play or settings to tinker with. Once the gamer has started the game, the adventure begins with eight psychedelic levels that are bright and colorful.
The game is easy to play but difficult to master. Obtaining points may seem easy in the first stage but each stage plays differently and has its own combo meter. This combo is triggered by shooting certain object in which create a explosive radius that other object turn into points. The bigger the combois the more points there are to collect. Easy right? In the end levels, it is difficult to obtain combo's and figure out what objects start them is half the battle.
With only 8 levels and no online functionality, the reply value may seem low. The designer decided to input a number of cheats in which the gamer uses the points he/she obtained to unlock quirky little features. Perhaps the best feature at first would be to unlock extra lives, but some of the other features seem useless and uninspiring. Lack of content is the only thing really holding the game back, as the music and game play in this PSN title are great.Everyday Shooter ironically isn't your everyday shooter and stands at the top of the Asteroids-like genre.
