The teaser?
Thats no lie? Metal Gear Solid 4: Guns of the Patriots is truly one of the best, if not, the best game of all time. Just about everything is worked right to perfection. The gameplay, the score done by Harry Gregson Williams, the great voice acting by David Hayter (Snake), Christopher Randolph (Otacon) and Jennifer Hale (Naomi)
The story is just too complicated to put into wordsso basiclly see the trailers but at your own peril however as it's best to play it then see it. However, if you are new to Metal Gear, it isnt the best introduction but it should surfice but if you want a good introduction to the game, go for the first in the MGS series for the PSX in 1998, you could pick up a copy from eBay or if you wanna start off chronlogically, go for Metal Gear Solid 3: Snake Eater for which where the war kicks off between the Snakes and The Patriots.
The new gameplay ideas in the game are very impressive such as Octocamo, Metal Gear Mk. II, the fighting between each country between PMC's and Millta and more but the biggest new addition is Drebin's Shop where you collect weapons on the battlefield from soldeirs killed in action and it then gets added to your Drebin Points total.
While Drebin's Shop is a little too easy, it is a godsend. If your in a heavy battle and are running low on ammo or if you just need a weapon, go to the pause menu and find Drebin's Shop there. Oh and any Drebin Points you get from your first playthrough will go onto your second playthrough so you should have a big added total there the second time you play through.
Graphiclly, this truly is the best looking game on PlayStation 3, it's amazing. Even better looking then Uncharted, Unreal Tournament III or Assassins Creed, it just looks amazing. Character models, the enviroments, the new 3D camera (Which was first in MGS3: Subsistence) everything! It just looks amazing.
As far as the sound in this game goes, every weapons sounds like its real life counterpart all the way down to the nook and crannie. Plus, Harry Gregson Williams returns for his 3rd Metal Gear Solid score with Guns of the Patriots and like before, he doesn't dissapoint at all. As well as that, the voice acting is absoutely 2nd to none with supurb acting between David Hayter (Snake), Christopher Randolph (Otacon), Jennifer Hale (Naomi) and Quinton Flynn (Raiden).
The chemestry between Otacon and Naomi is absoutely fantastic and its great to see Kojima pull at our heartstrings between the 2 until Act 4 but I aint gonna say no-more on that because you need to see it for yourself except for the fact it's just one of, or maybe, the best partnership in the game.
And as for Metal Gear Online, it's much better then it was in MGO1 or indeed the beta of MGO2, i's just another great reason to pick up MGS4, great gameplay. And like Team Fortress 2 and Gears of War 2, I can see myself playing this all year online-wise.
Overall, it's practiclly sealed the GOTY for the PlayStation 3 and without a shadow of a doubt the strong favourite for the GOTY altogether. Either way, Hideo Kojima can finally sleep at night now realising that he has finally made one of the best games of all time...or just maybe...THE best game of all time.
Thank you Kojima, thank you Konami...and most particularly...thank you Snake. You've your rest, may you spend it in peace.
