True Next-Gen finally arrives. Snake goes out with a boom, not a whimmer.
First of all, I'd like to say I have been an MGS fan for over 2 years now. Played all of them and thought Metal Gear Solid was the best one... till now. I'll start off with the story. Being complex and immensely intriguing story, like any other metal gear, makes this game hard to put down.. So here I am writing my first review (after finishing MGS4 ofcourse).
So the game starts off with an long but entertaining cinematic. And once you get your hands on Snake, the first thing you will notice are the awesome controlls. Since I played the US version, Auto-aim was disabled (thank god for that). But i did try it out and thought it was a nice feature to use when your stuck in a tight situation. But, I prefered the manual aim like most of the western gamers. The camo has changed as everyone probably knows, and its awesome. Not only do u get the octocamo, but you also get to use customes to make allying with Rebels faster (which you have to find btw). Also a nice feature is the face-camo. People who dont like seeing Snake as Old Snake can switch to Young Snake (which you get via story). You can also get bonus ones like Sunny, Campbell etc. oh and I love you can turn off your camo to default by the flick of your controller! Even during Cutscenes!
Now the MK.II is an awesome device. It was a smart choice not to make it motion based. Its extremely handy if you want to finish the game w/ stealth. It helps in scouting and taking out minor enemies.
The Graphics are unparalleled, just as pretty much every reviewer said. Its all real-time too! Easily noticed by changing the camo to default via motion sensing(flick controller up and down. Water effects, blood and dust are amazing! Definitely a game that pushes Blu-ray and PS3 to the max.
The installs are not a pain at all! 8 mins first install.. its waay too entaining watching Snake so it'll go by fast. And the future installs take 2-3mins on average. They really pay off with the low loading times between gameplay.
Kojima has done an excellent job. If it is his last MGS4, he definitely left a huge mark in history with it. Hence Famitsu's 40/40!
