Haze Multiplayer Review (haven't gotten to the campaign after owning the game for a week now)
I will admit, i thought about canceling my preorder at gamestop due to all the terrible reviews from respected websites. I am a huge FPS fan and have been playing COD4 a couple times a week for the last 6 months. It's not like i was expecting Haze to be incredible. It's not even a Sony exclusive and wasn't even supposed to be exclusive to the ps3 in the first place. Why people were expecting killzone 2 or resistance 2 type quality is beyond me. I think the reason i went and bought haze was just to try something new and that's exactly what I got out of the multiplayer of haze. Instead of starting with the campaign I shot into a game of online deathmatch right off the bat which is what i generally due with a new FPS. On my first try i kept hitting all of my COD4 controller setup buttons and kept throwing grenades instead of shooting and reloading instead of throwing grenades. I quit, quickly switched my controller setup (which was extremely easy by the way) so that it was equal to COD4 and I haven't stopped playing Haze online MP yet. What i love about it is the two completely different characters. When playing with the rebel you have to be more stealth because manels can see you from anywhere and can kill you with just a couple shots, but you are also faster and can dodge, roll, and have better aim. With the mantel you can see all the rebels using nectar which also makes you able to suffer several shots without dying, but if you get shot in the back you overdose and you are not nearly as mobile as the quick reble soldiers. if i had to compare it to any MP experience i would say resistance because of the Chimera and soldiers with two different advantages and disadvantages. I do love RFOM and to this day still think it is the second best online experience i have ever had second only to COD4 and HALO would be third. I think haze falls somewhere right under halo. Are the visuals incredible? no. is the mad design revolutionary? no, but i will say that the MP experience is damn fun. Now we will see how the campaign is if i get to it before MGS4.
P.S. Sniping is especially satifying in haze and i have NEVER been a sniper on RFOM,Halo, COD4, or Warhawk.
