Enter the Kid
Devil May Cry 4 introduces a new character by the name of Nero. Though he looks so much like Dante that's where the similarities end. His gameplay mechanics is a little different compared to Dante's. Nero possess a demon arm that can be used to grapple and pull enemies toward him, pick them up and slam them around or used to quickly pull himself to places marked with a blue ring. His sword can be revved by clicking the L2 button and in doing so it makes his attacks stronger. The timing for these are not lenient. It takes some getting use to and knowing the precise time to hit the L2 button. You can rev a few times creating a super combo. Near the end of the game you get to play as Dante for a few levels.

Throughout the beginning, and 2/3, of the game you play as Nero who is set out to hunt down Dante. As his journey continues the story unravels and Nero comes to see what is going on.

The gameplay is very smooth and the cut-scenes are off the wall crazy anime type action. The graphics are very crisp as well & the soundtrack fits the scenes very well. One new feature to PS3 games is that DMC4 includes an accomplishment system which lets you know when you have unlocked something. It also lets you know what your friends have unlocked as well when you start the game up. The initial install is too long though but the load times were never more than 2 seconds, so I don't know if it was a result of the install or not.

This is a great game if you enjoy button mashers and over the top action, bosses, storyline and cut-scenes.

Rating Comments
9.0 Graphics
Crisp graphics and lighting
8.0 Sound
atmospheric music that goes very well with the scenes/levels.
9.0 Gameplay
great game to try to master combos and using the rev feature for super attacks. very responsive control.
8.5 Fun Factor
the most fun would be trying to master the super attacks. the levels can get a bit tedious as each new area presents monsters to kill before you can move on.
