From the creators of the Jack and Daxter and Crash Bandicoot - Uncharted: Drake's Fortune
I bought a 40GB Playstation 3 on mid December just because I thought that it was finally time for me to play in a next gen console so I decided to buy Uncharted while I was at it. So I took out that huge (and heavy) thing that is a Playstation 3, hooked up the HDMI cables for a better experience, and inserted Uncharted into my new baby and boom, I was in Heaven.

Nathan Drake's the name, and uncovering the treasure for El Dorado is his game. Now I don't want to get to touchy with the story now as I don't want to bring about any spoilers but at least for the intro; the story unfolds with Drake on a friends boat (Victor "Sully" Sullivan) accompanied with a a young journalist (Elena Fisher) who thinks that the documentary of Nathan's discovery would be a blockbuster hit. Nathan finds clues of something big on Sir Francis Drakes coffin which leads him to his great adventure.

The first thing I noticed about this game and what left me in awe is how life like the characters are. One thing is having a game with great graphics, the other is actually having a game with human life-like physics, a game that makes you believe that the characters are real. Now Naughty Dog combined great graphics, lifelike characters, and a wonderful story that would leave you playing for hours and hours. The game in itself could easily take you from 9-10 hours on Normal Difficulty but c'mon now, why be a wuss? Now if you play the game on Crushing, some 11-13 hours of gameplay would leave you feeling even more accomplished. (And pissed at the same time)

The setting of this game is a remote island with some 13 century Spaniard architecture. The first thing you'll notice while playing the game is that Naughty Dog really did a great job with the environment. The plants, trees, and grass all look real and the sun reflecting it makes it even more incredible. Sometimes I just stop everything with whatever I'm doing and just take a look around the attention to detail of the game.

The game falls into the action/adventure category with some easy/ creative and fun puzzle solving along the way (this is a "searching for treasure game" btw so you're bound to pass many obstacles to just simply pass from one place to another) And well in every treasure hunting story, there is always someone that wants the treasure for themselves so expect to face many enemies throughout Drakes adventure. Don't think that fighting these goons are a walk in the park because they'll look for anyway imaginable to hide-duck for cover so that you can miss them. This game has a far superior cover system to that of Gears of War and Killswitch and what's so neat about it is that it's so simple and effective to use. You'll need to master this technique in order progress in this game like an expert.

By simply pressing the O button Drake will find a way to cover himself, weather he's next to a tree, a pillar of mounted rocks, or on the edge of a wall he'll hide for cover. Each time you hide for cover, Naughty Dog once again shows how much detail they put in the game since you see Drake having different posses while covering himself from incoming fire.

The only thing bad about this game is the fact that it doesn't have any online or co-op features whatsoever. Naughty Dog invented somewhat of an achievement system that adds some sort of replayability if you're one of those junkies that like unlocking everything from a game. They also implemented 60 treasures scattered throughout the game and each time you collect a certain amount, you gain "achievement points" (1000 max) to unlock cool bonus content like new character skins, concept art etc.

Overall Uncharted is a great and unique game that the PS3 so desperately needed and Naughty Dog really did a risk with a new IP as this one; but at the end of the day, they really delivered and showed what great talent they have and also demonstrated a small percentage on what your PS3 has to offer.
