The third installment the Tenkaichi series. Does it deliver?
Dragon Ball Z is a favorite of mine. One of those animes I got nto at age 9 and never really stopped watching. Then I bought the first Budokai game and then the second and the third. However I only bought the first Tenkaichi game since the second was basically the same but with more characters so I thought I would wait for the third.
I finally got the third game at a bargain price. The basic gameplay of Tenkaichi 1 is still there. Nothing has really changed but it doesnt stop the game from being fun since there is about 30-50 more characters then the first one. Combos and Ultimate attacks are easy to pull off. However this game loses its appeal you unlock everything. Even for a hardcore DBZ fan like me I only play the game if a feel like playing a vegeta for a few minutes but then I got to something else because I have already unlocked everything.
Character selection very high in this game. About 150 characters from all the series, including the movies. No one is really missing this time around but there are also many pointless characers that no one would really want such as a freiza soldier. Cant really complain if your a fan of the series since you will be able to find your favorite characters if he wasnt in the previous games.
Graphics are pretty much the same as they were in Tenkaichi 1. Kind of a disappoitment but the character models look great. The terrain around it however is kind of plain looking.
Sound is probably the annoying part. Character pretty much say the same things over and over again during fights and the main menu interface. It gets really repetitive really fast and can kill the mood a little bit.
Overall if you like Dragon Ball then this should be a good game for you even if it does feel like a game they put out just to make a little more cash it still holds playability for fans of the game. But if your not a fan of the game then you should not get this game. But should be common sense.
