For each applicable platform, IGN also picks the Best Action Game, Best Adventure Game, Best Expansion, Best Fighting Game, Best First-Person Shooter, Best Music Game, Best Persistent World Game, Best Platform Game, Best Puzzle Game, Best Racing/Driving Game, Best RPG, Best Simulation, Best Sports Game, Best Strategy Game, Best Graphics Technology, Best Artistic Design, Best Original Score, Best Licensed Soundtrack, Best End Credit Song, Best Use of Sound, Best Story, Best Local Multiplayer Game, Best Online Multiplayer Game, Best Downloadable Content, Most Innovative Design, Best Use of the Wii-Mote, Best Game No One Played, Best Revival, Biggest Surprise, and Best Developer.

IGN Best of 2007 Awards also feature gaming and non-gaming categories in Movies, TV, DVD (includes HD DVD and Blu-ray Discs), Music, Comics, Gears, Sports, and Stars. Of those categories, the gaming-related winners are:

• Best Videogame Soundtrack/Score (Music) -- Super Mario Galaxy Soundtrack

IGN will announce their overall picks for Game of the Year and the final winners from all platforms on Friday, January 11th, 2008. They'll also be posting the readers' picks for individual platforms and overall awards at the same, so look for the Readers' Choice ballots on the various IGN sites and tell them what you thought were the best of 2007.

I can agree with Uncharted for PS3.
Surprised that COD4 is best for XB360. It does not even make my personal top 5 list.
(EoJ, Uncharted, Warhawk, R&C and Singstar.)

COD4 is a great game - but I think R:FOM and Warhawk is better.

Anyway.... thanks to all the development houses, developers who toiled tirelessly and the publishing houses who took the risks of making these titles available to us. I (and my family) have had a lot of fun with our PS3 this year so far. Have a good rest - and bring me some more titles. Port some of the good XB360 titles as well - I really don't care if I play a game two years after XB360 owners played it. When I get my hands on it, it will still be a new game to me, and if the content is good, I will still enjoy it. Again - thanks for your hard work to entertain us.

The playstation games are just right. I would have thought Mass Effect or Bioshock would have won it for the 360 (and surprised the overhyped Halo 3 didn't take that spot, thank god!)

2.1 - They been doggin Halo3...

On some real sucker stuff. They dont want to give it its total props because they all weird. They used to games being all based around gamers in their little dark corners hoarding all the fun so once Halo3 started getting all that publicity they felt it was to over exposed so that makes them have to hate on it just because its so strong then they start nitpicking about stuff that really isnt even there to nitpick about. Honestly there is nothing wrong with Halo3 you cant improve on that game its nothing to improve on they took the best elements of they series and maximized them period. On the the all and all you cant buy a better game.

PC should had been Crysis.

Mass effect has too much issues to be GOTY.

Bioshock is good but then again multiplat.

I'm not sure if i buy logan's shadow...guess i will

3.1 - yeah, but

COD4 is also multiplat. but it does deserve GOTY for the 360 regardless.. it's my fav FPS of all time now. I would have picked Jeanne D'arc for the PSP though (my opinion) well, whatever, this year brought a lot of awesome games

Master Chief is the best character? I havent even played mass effect and I can guess those characters have more depth then MC in the first 15 minutes of the game!

Get pissy fanboys but its hard to belive they put alot of thought into that one, you shouldnt have to read books to get an inside perspective of a character.

though COD4 should not have taken GOTY for 360, it has plenty of games that deserve that, COD4 should just take GOTY or multiplat GOTY for being so good on every platform.

damn i agree with Pioneer winning best hdtv, their plasma's are top notch, expensive as hell but the quality is amazing. i only got a Samsung, Panasonic Viera, and LG plasma and then a Sony Bravia XBR2 LCD but my next plasma is going to be a Pioneer Elite

Fact:

COD4 is in both platforms, they look and play the same.

This is what I understood from this list:

1- Uncharted is PS3's GOTY, which means that its better than COD4
2- COD4 is 360's GOTY
4- Uncharted is better than anything on 360

So in IGN's opinion Uncharted should be the overall GOTY, right?

They gave COD 4 a higher review score than Uncharted. Uncharted only got a 9.1, while COD 4 got 9.4. I still can't see why they picked COD 4 for the 360.

I would have picked Crysis for PC and Bioshock for the 360.

anytime the best your system has to offer is a game available on other systems, there has to be cause for concern. Only the PS3 can deliver a true next gen experience across the board.

9 - That why when I saw this I knew it was bull...

In the information given on this chart youd be saying that Uncharted is better than, COD 4, Halo3, Bioshock, and Mass Effect, even though through out the year all those games score higher reviews than Uncharted. You see this is when these sight just be on they period, saying stuff that makes no sense.
