Sad sad sad that we get a censored version. So much for freedom of speech. Still, great news that we can finally play this masterpiece (Nintendo's own magazine gave it 9/10)

Maybe they just changed the color of blood to green, and changed the saw into a lollipopp, and the guns into candybars. that would make a T rating right there. ;)

You continue to appall me with your interpretation of "freedom of speech." This is a multicultural society, this is not an individual's anarchist playground. There are rules, standards, and responsibilities to follow. Stop exaggerating the censorship and just be happy the game is finally worthy of a release.

I know it was exaggerating but ESRB's move and Sony/Nintendo's banning of AO games for their consoles forced RockStar to censor its own game and I am strongly against censorship. (And more than hate it)
But I'm happy to see this game finally being released :)

I hope they release some kind of director's cut.
I'd pay double the normal price for that original version.

A PC version may see a patch that would allow us to play the game in its original form but the news article only pertains to the Wii, PS2, and PSP versions.

Maybe after each murder there is a disclosure to kids saying don't try this at home. This is a reenactment with payed professional and is not real.

How are they going to market the game now?
It`s going to feel very luke warm when it`s released, kind of simmilar to the difference between varm soup and cold soup.
If Bioshock comes out on the PS3 it`s also going to feel a bit like that, because a balence between good marketing and good gaming.

Maybe there actually going to release a game that does both suck and sell on hype like the first one.

hey maybe they made very minor changes? who knows since nobody here played the first version.. so we'll have to listen to those podcasts and read reviews to see how this one goes..
also doesn't the ESRB just get a video of the gameplay at random but bad scenes and makes its decision there? maybe they just edited the video...
i know someone mentioned this but maybe this was just a stunt to show the ESRB had a lil power and gives free publicity to Take2/Rockstar.. i mean its been only 2 months.. how many changes do u think you can make in 2 months? can't be that dramatic.. for all we know its the same game. Maybe this whole delay was a publicity stunt from both, maybe not.. who knows?

7.1 - I'm not speculating but,
here's an interesting note.
A few days after the ban I was talking to a buddy who works at Blockbuster. He was totally confused when I talked about Manhunt2's release date being put on hold.
According to Blockbuster's corporate dates, Manhunt2 never even had a summer release. He told me (2 months ago, remember) it was set for an October release!
I didn't think much of it at the time, Blockbuster is always fukced when it comes to their gaming division (although, I remember thinking at the time, that the discrepancy was WAY off, even for Blockbuster.)
But, now we have an "official" October release date scheduled, one that Blockbuster had several months ago, back BEFORE the ban even happened!
The whole thing is just a little too strange to digest and makes it hard to write off as mere coincidence.

This will be a first for Nintendo to release such an "adult" oriented game. Cheers to advancement, sneers to the method.
Hopefully no morons ruin it for us and use this game as a reason to murder or harm others. People like that piss me off so much.

I do recall a game called Killer7 which got attention from Thompson due to adult content.

We must have different opinions on what is adult. Besides the already named Killer 7, Nintendo has also recently release Resident Evil 4 (twice) and Scarface.
We're a long days away from the bloodless Mortal Kombat.

I would think that R* would do their best to leave the core gameplay unchanged and instead change particular scenes/events in the storyline that attracted a lot of negative attention such as the brothel.

well, I think its unfair to be censored but, I think Manhunt 2 pushed the envelope a little too hard on the violence.People are still adjusting to the fact that videogames can be used as art or statements just like movies.

I agree and will add that R* has a problem with understanding their own claims of artistic expression. Fortunately for R*, the majority of people have no idea what should be considered artistic expression and what should be considered irresponsible propaganda and harmful/degrading media. Any self respecting, educated, and creative artist would agree that Manhunt 2 is not art. If you don't believe me, ask some.
The problem is that art is created for interpretation and some people honestly do not have the necessary intellectual ability to interpret such art in a constructive and artisitic manner.

but I probably won't get this game. I was going to considering that it was suppose to come out in the Summer, but now it is coming out in already crowded line-up of games this fall. To make it even worse they even took out some things from the game itself, so yea I'll get it next year or rent it.
