FFXIII to include FFXIV beta code; Hope's summon, Chocobos in leaked Jump scans

SCRAWL: "Next week's Shonen Jump has leaked a bit early, considering it's still Friday, but we have them. The new scans reveal both Hope's summon in Final Fantasy XIII as well as what the beloved Chocobo will look like this time around.

The magazine also reveals that Final Fantasy XIII in Japan will come with beta access to Final Fantasy XIV."

Hope's summon looks like Alexander from FF VIII and FF IX. I am also happy to see Chocobos making a return. Also access to the FF XIV is a good deal.

I am happy to see a chocobo on FFXIII , but this one is pretty weird @_@.

Btw i know i saw carbuncle and siren on a pic this means there are 2 more playable characters? or one character can summon more than 1 aeon/esper/thingy?

There will be moogles? (sorry if i ask too much :3)

- From GAF, everyone seems to believe that Carbuncle and Siren will most likely be "story related" summons and not connected to a particular character. Most people on that site believe Vanille's (the other remaining character whose summon has yet to be revealed) summon will be water based (e.g. Leviathan or something new). Hope that helps!

One of the thoughts is that the summon is connected (spiritually?) to each playable character, so that's why you cannot mix and match but I agree that 1 for each seems "meh". Hopefully each of those summons are amazing.

I haven't seen or heard anything about Moogles either. I still think a TON of information on characters, summons, spells, etc. have yet to be revealed, so hopefully we'll get a few moogle-like surprises!

I hope meep, i was playing FFIX and there are moogles everywhere so cute! and funny =)

By the way on FFIX Eiko told me that moogles are faeries :3
And Quina told me that he/she was hungry and wanted to eat some frogs , i wonder if they taste good :p

Lets Hope that FFXIII have some nice minigames but the thingy i want most is a card game like tetra master

Where did I say anything about Sqaure needing help in Japan. If you had any kind of brain you and the other 3 idiots (probably moreganfell and thedisagreefairy) would have realized that I meant Square made a smart move by adding the FF14 beta to the game, since it gives gamers even more incentive and justification for purchasing FF13.

I think FF13 is targeted for Spring 2010, All that's been said about FFXIV is that it's supposed to come out in 2010, maybe spring 2010 on the beta, with a late in the year release.

I'm not really into Final Fantasy, so maybe someone can help me out.. if all the main FF games are supposed to be completely separate and in different universes, why are Chocobos in every game? Then again, I suppose you could ask why humans are in every game too, so maybe I'm thinking about it too much.

Chocobos aren't in every game. They only first appeared in 3. They also aren't technically in 8, though in Japan there was that Tamaguchi side game that required a piece of hardware that never left Japan.

I gotcha. I dunno why, but I've never been able to break into Final Fantasy. I got a pretty good ways into 7, but at some point I completely lost interest and stopped playing. I tried 12, but lost interest about a half-hour in. I think I'm gonna try 10 next, my friend said I'd like that one and he usually has a pretty good gauge on what I'll like.

My own two cents: I love the FF series but getting into the old ones again is somewhat difficult. I believe that a BIG part of the lure of a JRPG is the immersion, and outdated graphics (FFVII) hinder the immersive experience. FFX is good, but i'd suggest playing all of the other amazing games out now and giving FFXIII a shot when it comes out. Regardless of whether or not it has similar elements to other games, it will feel new and different because of the graphical upgrade.

They weren't if FF1.

Too many white mages to deal with. For the record I thought FFX was pretty blah. The story and difficulty were just too soft compared to other FF's.

Well its great to hear Japan gets all the spoils again. Cant wait to get our gimped version which will no doubt include nothing.

Then I look to the company Atlas and smile on Demons Souls because they spoiled us, gave us Delux edition and halloween events. Why cant SE show america some love?

I'm confused when you say "chance for the beta to be on ps3 too". So far XIV is only announced for PS3 and PC and since FFXIII is not coming out for PC I'd bet the the beta key is specifically for PS3!

The fact Japanese players get beta access for this, kind of ticks me off Square-enix botched the 'world wide release' they originally had planned for FF XIII, which probably had something to do with the 360 version. Odds are We'd be getting beta access too this way if it was getting launched world wide this December. I really hope we still get this deal on the us version of FF13 - that or at least give us a fair shot to get into the beta.
