IGN: Dissidia Final Fantasy Review

IGN writes: "There's absolutely no way I can fully describe and discuss all the systems and details in the Dissidia Final Fantasy experience as this game is massive. All you need to know is that the battle's are engaging, there's plenty to unlock/customize and this is a very well-made game.

Although non-Final Fantasy fans might be uninterested in this title, I still recommend it to every PSP owner out there. Knowledge of the franchise is fairly unimportant (though it does enhance the in-jokes and series references) and the characters stand on their own as enjoyable members of a solid fighting game roster. Even if this game didn't occupy the Final Fantasy universe, the amount of content you're getting on one UMD is mind-numbing and well worth the investment.

And ultimately, this game is a touching tribute to the franchise and a great reward for devoted fans. Don't miss it".

@1.3 It's Zidane. I liked him alright, since he was the first non-self pity "main" character since FF6, although I don't think FFIX was quite as good as VII and VIII (close though).

I still don't really get what this game is. Can someone explain it to me? Is it like a Final Fantasy RPG with a 1-on-1 fighting system or is it more like a Dynasty Warriors story mode with a 1-on-1 fighting system? Thanks!

I highly recommend it, the matches are really eyecandy, this game has a lot of style in it, if you ever watched "FFVII Advent Children" this is AC materialized in a game, you do all sort of things, from flying to wall running to multiple jumps, to slide etc.

Wait for august 29 and go buy this game, you won't regret it.

5 - Am I crazy ? this is a fighting game not an RPG !
I did not like the demo ... why it is called an action role playing game when it is a pure 3D fighting game ?

Same will happen with that FFv13 that as far as I know it will also be a fighting game but Square -Enix also labed it as "action RPG"

It's called an RPG because there are RPG elements in the game like leveling up, learning new abilities and customizing your characters. Also read this paragraph from the review to find out why they called it an action-RPG:

"Although Dissidia is most commonly referred to as a fighting game (I call it that myself), a more accurate classification of the game would be "one-on-one action." This is not a fighting game in the traditional sense, as it doesn't require elaborate directional inputs and it isn't quite as precise as modern fighters like Street Fighter IV and BlazBlue. It's not even similar to 3D fighters like Tekken, Dead or Alive and Soulcalibur. Instead, Dissidia plays like a fully realized version of Kingdom Hearts, but without the menu interface. You roam around a massive arena and send visually spectacular attacks at your opponent with just a few simple button presses. "

i would say this is the best game on the PSP! the content and unlockables are really amazing and can keep you playing the game for 60+ hours and still enjoy it.
