Kid brings gun to school ... to trade for a PSP

TACOMA, Wash. -- A middle school in Tacoma was locked down Wednesday afternoon after a 13-year-old boy was found with a gun.

The boy brought the gun to Mason Middle School to trade with another student. KIRO 7 reporter Kevin McCarty said the boy was going to trade it for a Playstation Portable.

1 - will parents ever learn
How about keeping your guns in a safe? It doesnt excuse the kids stupidity, but maybe he would have traded the families DVD player instead and kept his ass out a jail!

The Police should learn something out of this, and help reduce crime.
Put an ad,"Trade your gun for a PSP", just watch how many other kids will come to hand over the guns that are in their homes!

What I want to know is "who was the he trading the gun to?" I could see why a kid would trade his dad's gun away for a PSP. You can pass that off as a dumb kid who just really wants a video game. But what sort of kid is willing to trade his PSP for a GUN? That sounds like a dangerous kid, IMO.

Unless the kid was planning on selling the gun to a pawn shop to buy the PSP, and just happened to be dumb enough to bring the gun on school grounds.

LOOOOOOL!

kids these days are reaaaaly stupid.

whats the logic in bringing a gun to school?

and imo you should learn to use a gun, becouse most of the kids these days dont know how to use a gun, and what danger it is to have a gun, parents who knows how to shoot should learn their kids how to shoot and tell them what responibility it is to have a gun in your hands. whats the purpose. my father learned me how to shoot when i was 6. you dont see me doing stupid things like this...

You can't protect your family if the dad is a drunk and a wife beater while the wife is a prostitute.

The government should look into this for getting guns out of the inner city. Offer them PSPs!

I don't see why this crap is "newsworthy". People get murdered, raped, or bring guns to school because "they saw it in a video game" or traded it for a video game. This really isn't N4G worthy. If I stole a car and said I was tempted because of GTA, it shouldn't be considered newsworthy on this site.

13 - This is why guns should be banned.
Private citizens should not be allowed to own guns due to exactly these reasons, they get into the wrong hands and the bullets riddle the wrong bodies(not saying that anyone deserves to get shot, its often innocents getting in the way tho). WAKE UP AMERICA! you have a war on the streets with kids getting access to guns, is it just me or does anyone else have the same problem with their "right" to bear arms?

Wait according to the constitution(that Americans so often brag about) isn't it my right to share my opinion about a clearly uneducated decision regarding the safety of your countries inhabitants. FACT: Norweigian police don't carry guns(except special forces)FACT: only a handful of Norwegian police officer has been shot, and even fewer if any have been killed.

Why are parents not leaving these guns in a secure lock box or something? Obviously kids are able to get their hands on guns way to easy nowadays as well as all the ammunition they could ever need apparently. Either kids are becoming a whole lot more crafty or parents just started thinking "No my kid wouldn't take my gun nor use it" Then something happens and the parents try to blame video games and televisions.

Parents just need to keep both items (Ammunition and the gun itself) in two separate places.

P.S. I know it was mainly the gun itself mentioned in the article and not ammunition, but I started to go off on a rant :p

1st off. the dumbass parent should probably keep his guns somewhere safe from 13 year old kids.... pathetic.

Also, personally I'm more worried about this kid who wanted to trade in his psp for a gun... No mention of that on the news video XD
