I have friends in london with PS3 and it really sucks when i can't play games with them cus of dis kinda crap. They can group the levels by country but if there is a raelly awesome japanese made level at the very least i should be able to play thru it even if its all in japanese.

What sony should do is block the lower rated levels, but after ur level reaches a certian amout of downloads, like 10,000, the level goes globle. u shouldnt be able to play with other countrys, because u wont be able to ccomunicate, but u should be able to play there great levels.

Are they going to have the developers look at sme of the better user made maps and release them in something like a "featured user map" thing internationally. Kind of like bungie did with the good halo map variants.

That would make this not that bad, as a bunch of the great maps would still get released to everyone.

I think it'll be locked to the coding of the actual machine, so if you're in the UK and imported a Jap or USA PS3 you'll get to download their stuff and vice versa.

It is backed up with a reason, sadly the poster decided to leave it out of the short text, no idea why.

the reason is that Sony will host 3 different regional dedicated servers for LBP, SCEE will run the PAL servers, SCEA will run the American servers and SCEJ the Asian ones. This will provide most people with acceptable pings for the game and decent download speeds compared to a single server farm. Cause wherever you would put that one, most of the world would suffer from high pings and lag.

Additionally we will prolly see the best rated maps shared to all 3 servers by Sony. Actually thats the same system they use for HOME. Without the invite stuff part, but maybe they will add global coop play for maps available globally.

I'm not sure what Sony's servers have to do with MM's intelligence.

People talk about not being able to use mp3's in the game and how that's a terrible decision (I guess by MM), but I'm pretty sure it's not a terrible decision according to Sony's legal departments (or their music departments). Some people are going to have to face that we're more and more in a world where there's no fair use because the music conglomerates are too greedy to lose a few pennies. Yet, people will yell "yay" about things like blu-ray that have the worst drm systems yet. Seems like consumers are making the stupid choices.

I doubt that there is a legal difference between taking a photo or a screenshot of something and then uploading it. Maybe there is.

And I did read the article. It still is a stupid reason, they could mirror each regional server to other regions for example.
I don't have UT3, is there a similar problem like this there?

the main reason for the "no images from hdd" part is that they absolutely do NOT want levels full of downloaded pr0n pics and copyrighted material. Hence you need to make your OWN pics with the cam. Making your own pic makes you the copyright holder for that pic (within reasonable limits) hence no fear of outright copyright breaches for Sony = less need for moderators picking each level apart for shady stuff.

I'd imagine Sony's playing this one a little bit safe.

If this is going to be a flagship product, then they don't need the servers going down all the time and they have no idea what kind of demand this game will have. If it's not as big as anticipated, then they're safe with this. If it's huge, then this'll help them step it up to a global scale once actual REVENUE has been received for the game.

Not my fave decision, but I may just make sense. And, like you said, may not be reliable info.

UT2K4 is a far better game in scope and gameplay.

UTIII is dreadful on everything its a crap game, they removed everything that made the original so entertaining and just made it a poor mans Halo and Timesplitters, why bother making successful mods like PC users used to in the past?

Making Gears has only made Epic lazy and not a patch on what they used to do, but you wouldn't know that, would you?
Because as far as you're concerned Gears is what made Epic famous worldwide...sad.

Microsoft would probably charge for the tools to create a level, then charge you another fee just to access the servers. Then when the servers crashed, they'd give you some crappy game that no one wants for 1/2 price lol.

Microsoft seriously blows, and so does live for what they charge you. I'm glad PSN is coming around to expose Live for the rip off that it is.

They are as the SP game and apparently DLC is rumored to be made by Media Molecule and Sony's first party studios.
PSM UK magazine, read it.
Told me about the PSeye only importing images about last March.
