PSP's Parasite Eve '3rd Birthday' a third-person shooter

Joystiq.com writes "In development for PSP and mobile phones, Square Enix's third Parasite Eve game has largely been – like many of the company's titles are wont to be – a mystery. A new Famitsu interview with director Hajime Tabata (who's also heading up Fantasy Agito XIII for PSP) reveals that the game is a third-person shooter."

1 - I loved PE
I'm excited to see how this turns out, with Resistance Retribution , FFXIII Agito, a back-log of PSP titles I want to play and more and more PS3-PSP functionality, it looks like I might have to finally drop a few dollars and get one of those shiny new PSP3000's.

Maybe SqueEnix is testing some new waters with Parasite Eve 3rd Birthday, It will be interesting how they handle an 3rdPS.

It still does in no way change my comment, I still think SqueEnix is testing some new waters with Parasite Eve 3rd Birthday, It will be interesting how they handle it.

oh nooooooo!! Why couldn't they just keep the great formula which was Parasite Eve 1 ie action rpg?! (One of the reasons why I didn't like the second one, already have a Resident Evil, I don't need/want a clone) Now they've gone and ruined it for me by just turning it into a shooter!

Thanks Square Enix, guess I won't be purchasing it....

4 - This is very good
Not only are Square-Enix mixing it up a little by making it a TPS, but they're also opening a window to bring back what was, in my opinion, 2 of the best PS1 games you can get. Parasite Eve PS3, perhaps? :)

DINO CRISIS! That's the one I was trying to think of! Yeah, they need to bring that one back, too. And they just might. Especially when you consider that all of the major game companies of yore are bringing back some of their old series (NES Megaman, House of the Dead, Metal Slug, Wario Land, Splatterhouse, Golden Axe, Bionic Commando, and the list goes on). :)

Don't worry. Bob Dole will get his sequel eventually if this turns out to be any good. A PS3 Action-RPG like Parasite Eve is just what the system needs, right now.

Yikes, dude! Don't you think you're judging it a little too early? Every Game Series needs a game to buck the trend once in a while. If and when they make Psrasite Eve 3 I doubt it will be on PSP, anyway.

They could use Consoles for the main series and use the Handhelds for the subseries. Hey, it's worked before (Megaman 1-6 NES. Megaman I-V Game Boy).

That would be awesome, another title I'd love to see again although not S-E is Dino Crisis. Although I'd be worried if Capcom and S-E remade these games I might be sucked into a time warp.

Why is it that the portable consoles this gen get the best games? It seems like every week something awesome is announced for the PSP or DS, while the home consoles are full of FPS, casual music/Wii sport knock offs and boring online generic online games.

Why cant Parasite Eve 3 be on PS3? why cant they make a NEW console Chrono Trigger? why no Suikoden for Wii or 360? no Contra 4 on PSN or XBLA? where is my 2D Castlevania? on DS!!! LAME.

It looks like I will soon be a portable games

One of the main factors, in my opinion, is the fact that this gens home console games take so much money to make. For some studios if a game doesn't sell well it puts the company in the red. So in order to make sure that games sell decently they stick to a generic tried and true formula to at least break even, hence the lack of innovative titles.

As far as Parasite Eve I don't really care how it plays I am just glad that they are actually making it for PSP and not cell phones like originally planed. For the record I would prefer more PSP games because my DS has been collecting dust for about a year now. I am not a big fan of games that primarily use the stylus for game play.

Hopefully it won't be like FF7DoC. I want this game to still have RPG elements like the first two had. PE and PE2 where two if my favorite PS games and hopefully well see it on the PS3 someday. Imagine all the sexiness that is PE on the White Engine/Crystal Tools. Faints at the thought of see Aya Brea in the shower in all its HD glory.
