1 - sales dwindle huh?
this couldnt be a direct result to modding? or the fact that u can download anygame you have a play that digital copy?..... God it makes me happy and sad at the same time. i think sales will continue to rise....its pretty much like a dvd player...bluray player....cd player, etc ,etc....i mean you buy a psp and just play copied games on it / end rant

2 - yeah it's a double edged sword
hardware sales are definetely up!
but....what's the point when you try to sell a game, and if it doesn't have the words "final, monster hunter, god of war, *insomniac game*" in the title, it's just gonna get downloaded.

4 - Software attach rates dwindle when hardware undergoes massive growth.
It's expected. BTW, is it blasphemy to have Nintendo games running on your PSP?

In the case of the video game industry, you would expect attach rates to go up or stay the same if more hardware sells. Doesn't everyone buy a game or two when they purchase a console/handheld?
However the PSP is a multimedia device too so it's possible that people are using it for other reasons than playing games.

5 - umm
Did this guy take any business classes??? OFC when hw sales climb the attach rate of software is going to go down for awhile. The can have a 3:6 attach rate then they get a hw boom and turn it into a 6:6 for awhile then it would go back to a 3:6 after the boomers get settled in and start buying games.

it's sad to hear that piracy is hurting the software sales.
