God of War: Chains of Olympus Screenshot Comparison

Chains of Olympus actually looked good enough for GameSpot to dust off their original God of War image comparison to see just how good the PSP game looked in comparison to its PlayStation 2-based siblings. GameSpot went through Chains of Olympus and tried their best to match up some of the scenes from the previous two games to see some of the differences. For the most part, Chains of Olympus holds its own against both games. In addition, Ru Weerasuriya, vice president of creative development at Ready at Dawn Studios, had the time to answer a few questions about Chains of Olympus.

I was playing this game a little while ago, and I can tell you it looks great for a PSP game. Looks better than most PS2 and Wii games.

That extra 111mhz has obviously helped to work wonders.

Looks fantastic for a hand held game.

8 - HDTV.
This game even looks good on an HDTV. Curiously, when I played the demo from my Memory Stick I experienced all sorts of odd slow downs and glitches that are not present on the full UMD game. So far I have not had one noticeable slowdown or game ending glitch.

Anyone who has played this game knows that the lighting is actully better than the PS2 versions.

Check out some screenshot galleries of Chains of Olympus, and you'll see that the shadowing of characters is more detailed and they throw long, soft shadows, not harsh shadows directly under the character model all the time.

I was seriously impressed with the amount of detail they squeezed out of a handheld.

EDIT*

I just looked at the screenshots again, and I would say that the lighting model in Chains of Olympus is more impressive than the rest, including the amazing soft-shadowing, although God of War 2 still retains the best detail in characters and the environment.
