GameSpot Reviews God of War: Chains of Olympus

Like Grand Theft Auto and Syphon Filter before it, God of War successfully pulls off a console experience on a handheld. Some new ideas and a better mixture of puzzles, platforming, and bosses would have been divine, but Chains of Olympus is an excellent game that delivers most of what you've been praying for--more God of War.

Why do they always ask for something new in the gameplay? And then when a game does have a lot of extra variety, it will get criticized for doing too much.

i respect gamespot from time to time. 8.5 coming from gamespot really isn't bad but then again they give halo 9.5. I see them as harsh reviewers but they gave halo 9.5?

I am loving the demo and am buying this game day ONE! This is the first PSP game that has given me an "epic" feel and comparable to a console/PC game. I've never been this excited for PSP title.

Gamespot needs to stop Aaron Thomas from reviewing anything other than sports games. In case anyone forgot...this is the same dumbass that gave Ratchet a 7.5. The funny thing is if you look at his review history he rarely votes anything higher than an 8...and even more surprising is he gave Professor Layton and the Curious Village a 9.0. I knew this would happen anyway...*slow sarcastic slap* nice one Gamespot.

Aaron Thomas is such a pu$$y and gamespot continues to lose credibility. And I think people reviewing this game keep forgeting its a PSP game because it is that awsome. I think if you take a console game that got mostly 9s or higher and then get it even close to the same on the PSP it should get 9+ reviews by everyone. Also this game is on UMD not Blu ray so 7 hours is fine for a handheld game of this quality.

to keep the same amount of amazing quality graphics, sound, and scenes as on the ps2, that can hold up to 8.4G on a single disk, into 1.8G UMD, it's sound as a hard task.

first, lets start with that, i hardly believe it's a 7hours game, since they said the same, on HS and other games. and i played HS several times. it's short, but not that short.

and more, if you take into conclusion that it's a HAND-HELD game, with no equivalent on any other hand-held, you souled judge it bye this not bye any other reason.

7 hours on HAND-HELD is more then enough, espectiolly if 7 hours on COD4 is enough, and the same time on HALO 3 is enough.

First he wants less variety, then he wants more! Seriously, they're running out of staff so their exclusive sports gamer is all that's left to review big Sony exclusives. Something tells me, he hates Sony and loves to thrash their products.

I say just keep him in a cage and when Madden rolls along in August, let him do a 5 hour cream-fest over how awesome it is to earn his paycheque....despite the game obviously being as terrible as it always is since EA got the exclusive license....

First off you guys obviously know your games, you know enough to discredit gamespot's review. Second, the game is a f@#king prequel, it can't over use what has already been done in the first two games because it may not tie as well as it should, maybe there should have been more puzzles, some more weapons but seriously. It's a handheld. They talk about G.O.W COO being a console game on a handheld and yet mark it down 8.5 I say screw them and experience the game for yourself cause judging by some of of his remarks he sound like the game did exactly what it was suppose to do and that is great experience story and kickass so scru those tung twisters and enjoy ........ This about .5 too low for me. They said "Very, very little in the way of new gameplay elements" yet this is a prequel to the first game i believe so how can you really have new gameplay elements without ruining the integrity of the series/first two games?

I can no longer go to GameSpot for my reviews. Information, maybe, but definitely not reviews. This review furthers that stance. Their priorities for the game are completely lacking if one of their flaws/cons was that the game didn't bring any new gameplay elements to the table. Simply put, it's a prequel, therefore they (the developers) have to stick to what the previous games already have.
