After finally giving fans what they wanted out of a Metal Gear experience on a portable platform (portable tactical action as opposed to a card game), and the positive response that followed from fans and reviewers alike, it was inevitable that a follow-up would arrive. For better or worse, it is something that us die hard fans of the franchise have come to expect: a follow-up release that includes features or content that, in many ways, feels like it should have been part of the original title. The original MGS had the VR mission follow-up, Substance followed MGS2, and lastly Subsistence refined the gameplay of MGS3. Portable Ops Plus follows the mold by adding content and refining gameplay, but its multiplayer-only focus will leave fans looking for a Metal Gear fix before MGS4 somewhat disappointed. UGO gives Metal Gear Solid: Portable Ops Plus an overall rating of B-.
