Don't be an idiot. Did you even play the original FF7? the ingame graphics were blocky as hell, but it was one of the greatest RPG's Ive ever played. I still have it, and could still play it. It is that good.
Anyway this is the CG intro to the game, and the gameplay doesn't look bad at all for a PSP game, it is almost the quality of a PS2 game. Check youtube, gamespot and IGN for footage there is some.

Anyway I can almost care less about the graphics in-game THIS INTRO GAVE ME GOOSEBUMPS. The Advent Children trailers couldn't even do that. I really really hope this is the real deal. A true equal to the original game!!! I know many of the previews Including IGN's have hinted that this game is just that.

I can gurantee you that if it is, once the US/European version comes on the radar, this game could sell more PSPs than any game prior. I think at this point very few people out side of japan (even current PSP users) know that this game exists. This is about the only game that could single handedly force me to buy a PSP.
