According to Jeux-France.com Sire Kitase, producer of Final Fantasy VII Series gave some information about Crisis Core :

Jeux France : "Est-ce qu'il est envisageable de revoir Cloud, pourquoi pas dans un remake de FF VII ?"
Kitase : "Voyons", il réfléchit, puis il dit en rigolant : "Je ne sais pas ! "

Jf.com : "It is possible to re-see Cloud, and why not in a remake of Final Fantasy VII?
Kitase : "Let's see... (he's thinking for a while) ... I don't know" (he laught)
