Rumor: Guitar Hero - U2 Edition

Orlando Sentinel "Control Freak" blogger Mark Reule has an opinion about the next installment of Guitar Hero.

He Writes

"After reading through February's EGM, I noticed a little tidbit about a rumored Guitar Hero sequel featuring a band that "rocks in mysterious ways". Give up?

Think 1991. Think Achtung Baby. It can only be U2."

U2 aren't rock, they play easy-listening.

Seriously, Guitar Hero needs some real riffing. They should add more bands like Devildriver, Entombed, Kyuss, Fu Manchu, MC5, Slayer, Pantera etc. Riff rock!

On a more personal note I would love to see some death, black and sludge metal songs.

Most of those bands were girly rock a la MTV.

Some good ones in there though, like GNR and AC/DC, but those are given.

I knew I was not the only one that hated u2. I noticed that the main reason people defend U2 is not because they make good music but because "bono helps poor people" "bono wants to save the world " well guess what just cause he is a good humanitarian does not mean hes a good musician. Bono is so annoying with his gigantic glasses makes me want to punch his ancient ass into dust.

8.2 - It must be an age thing

U2 in my generation is like the beatles in my parents. U2 write some serious s*it. Their song writing is very deep and yet their tunes are very catchy. They also from time to time reinvent their sound and yet very identifiable by long time fans. From war to Joshua to Acuhtung to Pop to HTDAB,they are trend setters. They sound very different. Unlike say Bon Jovi that haven't changed since they first preformed. Bono and co are excellent at their craft. They write and preform music that means something. Watch their Rattle and hum tour movie to get an idea what they are about and witness how really awesome they really are esp Live!!.

Okay first of all The Beatles are the greatest band ever. U2 should never be meantioned in the same sentence as them. Secondly.... that's all I really wanted to say. Beatles good U2 bad.

11 - U2 = LAME

U2 is freakin an old band that needs to go away. They are waaaay to old, and never sounded good. Their music is not rock, it's POP. U2 is always talking about the world and politics. If you were a true musician, such as I, there hundreds of really dope, GOOD rock band that have potential that can definitly fill in the spot before they would. The only people that like U2 are non-musicians or deaf people. GH would go down under if this happened, this is sad.

Id like you U2 haters to attempt to play Achtung Baby... which might be the greatest rock album of all time. I really hope this news comes true... there are hundreds of millions of U2 fans who would jump all over something like this. This is a good move..
