Rumor: Orange Box patch might be on the horizon (PS3)

PS3 Fanboy writes: It's no secret the PS3 version of Orange Box is inferior to the PC and 360 version due to the unforgivable amounts of bugs and bad coding. Many gamers have voiced their displeasure about the game, and one upset gamer, who purchased the game despite the highly publicized problems, posted a thread on Valve's forums. Soon after, a Valve employee responded to address his complaints.

Its Sony's mess that needs to be cleaned up. The PS3 has an awful development support associated with it. ALL companies are having difficulty creating AAA games. Lack of RAM and the CELL is whats holding things back. I just sold my PS3 on ebay. I got sick of waiting....its BS. The 360 is still winning in EUROPE and the US. Japan is a dead market for next gen gaming.

The PS3 and the Muslims are ruining the good world. Believe in Jesus and eat some pork sammiches.

Well, this seems like a stretch but would be welcome in any case.

I haven't seen too many problems on the PS3 version(other than stutters while saving) and have yet to see anything a miss with TF2. I've actually really enjoyed playing though HL again, and that's quite the complement coming from a PC snob :o)

May even help repair some of the damage Jaffre has done within the PS3 community.

It is Valve we are talking about here. Who's going to make the patch? EA or Valve? The company that has already condemned the system that they haven't made anything for or the company that has made a few games for it, all of poor quality. Its the devil either way you look.

if a port is going to be made, don't let EA handle it. Valve should've made the PS3 themselves, but it's too late for that. The Orange Box is such an awesome package (my friend FREAKED when he saw how many games were in the opening menu), but the framerate issues are horrible, even during Portal.

If a patch is released that ends up improving performance, even somewhat, I'll pick up The Orange Box right away.

I'd get it, patch or not. If you can get it for the PC or 360, though, I'd get it for either. If you're like me, and cannot, go for the PS3 version. It's worse than the other versions, but not bad enough to not buy.

The Orange Box on PS3 is a great title. I've played through most of Portal and had no framerate problems whatsoever. I played a couple of hours of HL2 and no problems. Team Fortress runs very smooth as well. You PS3 owners need to quit listening to reviewers and play the damn game for yourself. Rent it if you're unsure but I'd go ahead and buy it.

i have OB for PC and its the only way to go. Team Fortress:2 has kept me away from UT3. nothing like knifing 3-4 ppl in one run with the spy. or getting an Ubercharge with a Pyro and destroying everything and everyone in sight.

I just got the orange box the other day, i exchanged it for COD4(i know, I'm insane) And I have had NO problems with the game except for the whole 20 second respawn with TF2(i hate it... the respawn.. but the game is so fun that I can let this be excused) and I beat portal in no time flat, but it was outrageously fun!! I just started HL2, I never got around to playing HL2 as the time it came out my PC screwed me over and I already had consoles to play and I realized that PC's were more expensive(or were going to be) anyways, What problems have you guys had with TOB? I have had none that I can think of... I'll be happy if they make TF2 have less than 20 second respawn(EVEN 15 second! 10?! maybe 5 is asking too much)

Now that I remember(and read a comment above), the load times were a b!tch.. but my cousin came over for new years eve and he had the game on his 360, load times were the same i thought.. =/

Would that respawn time not just be that long by design? So that you have time to choose a new class?

I get a noticeable delay as I fire the first portal on any level, only a third of a second or so, but it's perfect after that. There is also a frame drop as a quicksave is started, but that is to be expected, the quicksave feature is brilliant! (I don't know how it works on PC or 360).

If a patch is released I'd like it to remove that small stutter when firing the first portal and possibly reduce load times. Any fixes are brilliant but those are my two choices. My advice to anyone who doesn't have this collection, get it, seriously!

Give me a break. its not that buggy at all, even at its worst, it isnt nearly as bad as Mass Effect or anything. It deffinately could run smoother, but Ive beaten portal, both half life 2 episodes and did not run into as many glitches as when i played through Mass Effect. not even close.

so yeah a patch would be nice, but i wouldnt call it a mess.

its funny how people keep telling me there are supposed to be glitches and bugs but I have yet to experience them. Matter of fact I dont notice a damn difference between this and the 360 version. The only complaint I have is the damn loading times, they should have enabled it to save to HD.
If your considering getting this game just get it, dont worry bout the bullshit poeple tell you its still a fun game and I doubt u will notice much when ur playing it.

I think the game came out pretty close to as good as it could be, and I wouldnt doubt if Valve didnt lend to much of a hand to help them out when they were actually making the game, ya now they are willing to patch up. Anyways, the framerate things, really doesnt bother me to much as its one of those, get the !@#$ over it things, however, the loading times, now that is insane and needs to be corrected considering every PS3 has a harddrive and they use 430MB on it for the game. 360s dont even have one standard. Nuff Said

the loadings just plain sucks every once in awhile you go and save manually and it freezes a quick press on the ps button and back and its working fine again?
same as when you first choose which game to play it will freeze and you have to quit out and start again.

and theres the times when you quit right out from the game your playing and it will reset you system?

still im having some fun with it.

I must be the only one who doesn't have problems with it.

The only hitch I had with framerates was when Dog meets up with you in HL2 right before you enter the citadel. Everything else is exactly what I expected after playing on the PC.
