Hey Everyone --

I wanted to give you a heads up on the PS3 Connectivity patch for the PS3 version of Call of Duty 4: Modern Warfare. This is the patch that will improve matchmaking, connectivity, and optimized performance for you guys when playing online.

The PS3 Connectivity patch will be hitting in the very near future. The PS3 (exclusive) Connectivity patch will include:

US Data Center For NAT Server
Will make all US players connect to US data center and EU users connect to EU data center. This will optimize performance for all users in those areas.

Fixed 'Downloading Game Settings' Error
Fixed error with conflicting packet interaction.

Port 3095 Issue Corrected
Players were required to have port 3095 open in order to host. Now players who have port 3095 blocked can still host matches.

Matchmaking Optimization
Server search will end upon acquiring a certain number of good servers. Added "prefer" servers with best ping, this will optimize and expedite players finding and joining good matches.

This is the first patch, addressing connectivity issues, there will be a future patch that includes several more multiplayer enhancements but won't be here until well into the new year. Let me know if there are any questions. Thanks guys.

Which we should have had day one and it also seems the patch soon to hit the 360 will not be landing till way into 2008 for the ps3.

Lol but Infinity WARD had the best "coders" working for the PS3 version. I guess they flew the coop, atleast there will be a patch

But yeah violater Y PS3 fans come second again. Well, atleast we can go to unreal Tournament 3 and play with mods....

Wait we can't! PS3 users are still waiting to use voice communication! Shafted again! Thanks Epic for your "just in time for the holidays" rush job. Thanks for the Splitscreen too, which you said was going to have along with local co-op. Wait that feature is missing too.

Seriously whats up with developers and Quality Assurance Programs? Every Developer but Nintendo, is starting to turn in EA Quick Dollar games. It feel like the SNES/SEGA days where games had tons of glitches and problems.

I'm with you on the Warhawk expansion but don't forget we get the v1.2 patch tomorrow also.I think Warhawk is one of the greatest games there is.The best online game.I got my wallet loaded up for Thursday.Warhawk never gave me connection issues.

Two of my friends bought the game about a week before the same update then when they downloaded it their ranks shot up to impossible levels.

This sucks! none of them fix my problem of being "unable to connect to host" and the one thing this game needs more than anything is host migration so the game that you just joined wont end emediately.

"well into 2008" F**k that.

Also I want to be able to play with the Americans! they seem to be the only people i can join anyway.

It think this one might fix the "Unable to connecto to host" error:

"Port 3095 Issue Corrected

Maybe the reason we can't connect is because the host doesn't have this port open? So with the patch it might be ok.

I hope so, but my friends could host for others just not me although all the others are English and I'm Irish so maybe thats why. I just dont know anymore! It's a real downer especially when you are away all week and it's the run up to Christmas.

I haven't been able to play CoD:4 online but twice and while it was lag free it took over 30 minutes for it to find the game.Screw waiting 30 minutes to join a game.I hope this patch fixes it.Oh, and its not my router because I bypass it and connect my PS3 directly to my modem for NAT Type 2.

Yes I live in the US.I'm in Atlanta and this is the only game online I have ever had problems with.Its not me its IW.I guess thats why they're releasing a patch.I don't know what it is but if it wasn't for the great single player I would have dropped this game in no time.It sucks because I know how great of an online game this is and I can't play it.I'm not the only one with this problem.I think this patch may help me out but for now it just does the "trying to find potential matches" forever.I think the "Matchmaking Optimization" part of this patch will address the issue.We'll see.

I know what you are talking about ATL. I have oftentimes had to wait thirty or minutes to get into a game. Which is absolute bs. A beta test on the PS3 would have insured that these problems wouldn't exist. But no. We got blessed with all the problems that the 360 beta users experienced.

is great, I have had no problems at all with the Online. No Lag, no nothing... Only Option i think is needed is the Host migration, and mute.. I hate it when those 10 year olds get on, and they learn a new cuss word. LOL

that and the game needs some sort of join function...the invites are a mess also...I get spammed with 10 invites for different people, yet everytime I try to join their game it is already full...

with a join option, you could keep trying rather than having to hope they send you another one...oh well...thats all stuff that future firmware updates will most likely fix so w/e...

and since the patch released last night...I have had more "downloading game settings" problems than I ever did in the past...I love it when devs do this...happened with Warhawk for over a month...release a "patch" that makes things worse...the "downloading game settings" bar came up in intermission while I was already in a game?...I could see it happen 3 other guys in there too...all our ranks reset to zero...and then the game lobby closed...

I can say that joining games was a little smoother though...seems like a game is nearly always found instantly...

5 - It can take anywhere from 3 seconds

to 3 minutes for me to connect to a game. Hopefully the new ping filters work, 'cause the lag in this game is way too noticeable. You know you've dealt with too much lag in your life when you learn to snipe where an enemy is going to be in 1/2 a second instead of where they are onscreen.

That is why IW should have made a beta test with CoD 4 on the PS3. If it had occurred, we wouldn't be having these problems right now. As of now, CoD 4 multiplayer PS3 is unplayable for me. Having to wait twenty minutes to get into a fvcking game is too long that I often times just give up.

uh...I believe that would have little to do with the game itself...and everything to do with your internet connection and NAT settings w/e dorm you are in...

I understand that some games may work online and some may not on university ethernet connections...but its likely an issue of ports not being opened and other firewalls put in place, that happen to block parts of this game...that other games may not use...in either case, this is something you need to take up with a res/tech office...IW will most likely not do anything to address a matter such as this...

it's terrible for PS3. Everyone wants to deepthroat Infinity Ward. Gimme a break, let the game run properly online before we give the game the royal handjob you guys wanna give it. This game has nothing but potential at the moment. too much lag and lobby waiting. Treyarch is looking pretty good right about now. Most ppl think pretty graphics and 60 frames per second is more important than actually playing and having a guy die when you shoot him. Lets get our heads out of our butts and admit this game needs drastic improvements in terms of online connectivity
