Lost Planet launches with a budget price

Capcom's big PS3 surprise was a port of the former Xbox 360 exclusive, Lost Planet.

Disappointed PS3 fans expecting more were dismayed by the idea of yet another port, and threw a collective tantrum on the internet. Well, at least Capcom's making a smart move by pricing next year's port at a discount price.

If Capcom's official store is to be believed, the game will launch for only $40 -- that's $20 less than the standard retail price for games.

I think it depends on when its coming out next year. It's a pretty jammed pack year for PS3 games, so it's going to have to find a sweet spot for me to make a purchase.

Thats funny. I was playing Lost Planet when I got the RRoD. No lie, I swear. LOL . It was 2 days before Bioshock came out and I was pi$$ed. Its funny because Now i am scarred to put the game back in my system and I haven't played it since.

6 - warning to PS3 owners

don't come into this expecting an immersive story or control system.

capcom rehashed (duh!) the monster hunter controls, so the 3rd person shooting sections feel a bit...uhhh...stiff.

just go in with an open mind and you will enjoy it and the mech fights.

I'll have to ask some 360 people about the game. I don't really care if it's a port since I haven't even played the game yet, but if it releases january, I'll pick this up along with Haze and burnout. I'd prefer if it were 30 dollars like oblivion, but eh, what can you do

9 - You guuys should buy it.

This game is real fun. The boss battles a challenge, and online is a blast too. You would be surprised to see how nice the controls are for the mechs, plus how many different mechs you can choose from. The story line is kind of silly, but over all a beautiful game. I would not pass it up. $40.00 is a good deal. You can hook up with your PSN buddies and enjoy a pretty decent game.

edit: I have to add that the explosions and sound for this game will really blow you away. Have fun.

They don't give a damn because, A. The game wasn't that good, just very pretty at the time it came out. B. The game doesn't look that pretty on the PS3 judging from the released screens. Now they could fix it, and if they do, and make the game look on par or better than the 360 version, then maybe more people would be interested. But as of now, the graphics for the PS3 version looks like sh!t. Muddy textures, and I mean extremely muddy, no AA, and no motion blur really hurt this game.

I thought a good ol' Andrew Jackson was enough for a budget title, maybe for the last generation but now we are all entering the new generation where budget titles will be bumped up to $40. I wouldn't be surprised to see Sony's PS3 Greatest Hits line coming in at $40 a game either (I would still be pissed, but not surprised).

For people like me who have never played it this is an ALL NEW game. Why do i care if John Nobody played it last year? A new, FULL game on the PS3 that is only $40 and isn't some crappy made-from-movie game is good news in my book.

Im thinking $30 for the PS3 greatest hits. The price was raised by ten doller so im just gonna transfer that over...

29 - For some reason I still want to own this game

Loved the demo back when it hit, but found the game to lose it's luster as I got further into it during a rental. Yet, I'm still interested in finishing the game, but not for $40. Sure it includes all of the 360 extra content, but that seems to have been factored into the price considering the 360 version's $25-$30.
I'd like this game way more if I didn't have to worry about collecting orange goop to stay alive.

Lost Planet's Metacritic score is 79, the same score as Heavenly Sword which you consider to be a crappy game.
Therefore according to FirstKnight Lost Planet = crap.
