Atari to Start Charging more for X360 Games
22
Gameplayer today received a release schedule form local distributor Eidos showing off the price and date for the next game in the popular Conflict series, Denied Ops. Interestingly the game will be more expensive on Xbox 360... is this the start of a new trend?
"This is the first time we can recall a multi-format game selling for a greater price on the Xbox 360 than the PS3... or vice versa. Why do Xbox 360 owners have to pay more? It's not like they get their online for free, either."

What I find interesting about that story is the writer asks if this is some new Sony strategy to get more sales. Hello, it's an Atari game. Sony and Microsoft don't set the prices. I doubt that it's some Sony idea. Microsoft could always drop their license fee if that was it.

That site is Australian. The au in the name tells you that. So it's Australian dollars. Using a currency converter on the Web it shows $100 Australian is around $88 US. That seems pretty high if the game will cost $88 in the US. I don't know much about the game. Does it have some kind of special controller or something? No way I'd pay that kind of money for an Atari game.
I just noticed Lair cost $99.95 Australian so I guess they just pay a lot more than we do in the U.S. This is why I laugh when U.S. gamers complain about high prices. Compared to gamers in other countries we don't really pay that much.

It never scored well in review, but the games still sold.. the Desert Storm games in particular did numbers with less savvy (mainstream) gamers.

In the reduced bin.
It will be there in no time with nobody buying it.
Get a grip Atari (and other devs)games are barely worth the $60.00 they are asking now. You want to sell some games? Go the other direction and ask $49.99

I still think new released games should cost $40 (like on PS1) ... I think 40 dollars was a good price... no $50 or $60 dollar games
