Uncharted gets totally censored in Japan

Uncharted has guns. And guns shoot people. Shooting people causes people to bleed. Not in Japan, apparently! When played on a Japanese PS3, Uncharted is bloodless. Sure, Japan has done this before with games like Dead Rising and Resistance. It doesn't matter where you bought Uncharted as the game's still bloodless. The origin of the disc does not matter, but rather, the hardware does.

3 - They Won't Censor Their Own Games

Nice way to support developers outside of Japan. Don't say its to protect your own people, you don't censor "your own" (japanese made) games from the japanese public. (Heck just look at the violent child pornographic CARTOONS you release to "the public" constantly) What's the matter Japan, afraid of some competition?

Is that why you won't buy Rachet and Clank and have to censor violent games from OUTSIDE of Japan, but NOT your own games? Why don't they censor games like Dead Rising or Resident Evil or Devil May Cry in Japan? Those games have blood, violence, and guns in them. Why? Because they are domestically created games.

Foreign Developers, Sony Does Not Support You.

What I have said is true.

@17: Because Ninja Gaiden is a domestic game.

@18: Games are art, and someone mutilated someone else's art.

The game was meant to be played WITH blood.
Either change the rating of the game for your region, or ask the developers to make changes. Since the same game will play differently in different regions on the same hardware, this smells of censorship.
Just remember Sony what happened to Nintendo with MK sales because of censorship. What goes around, comes around.

Japan isn't as hypocritical in its rating system as the US is. Both violence AND sex receive adult ratings here. If a game has excessive blood and violence, it receives an adult rating.

Japan is 100% anti-gun. Even the cops aren't allowed to carry guns. Also, blood and gore is somewhat taboo in Japan. The UK is the same way to a certain degree (gun trafficking).

Japan is less censored than most countries. They come up with the freakiest stuff in the world...Takashi Miike movies, hentai...Uncharted should be rated eC (early childhood) in Japan with as much uncensored stuff they have there

3.5 - They censored their own games to sell it under Japanese rating.

In Japan, all games are bloodless or at least red-bloodless. It's a part of rating. I personally think it's stupid, but it doesn't matter.

The game maker decide to follow Japanese rating and took blood out. It's up to the maker. For example, Ninja Gaiden Sigma decided to left blood and rated for not child (rated for 17 or older). Uncharted could do the same thing if the maker wanted blood.

3.6 - Censorship

Japan is not nearly as censored as you all think. The Japanese police are allowed to carry guns. I live in Japan so I think I should know. It is true that they do not have the same gun laws though. You can not just go to a store here and buy a gun. You have to get a special permit to even own a gun here in Japan. The police here do carry guns on them. The security guards do not have guns. They are not police officers though.

Well this is good for people in Japan if it means selling more units of the system and games. I think Ratchet is the same way with the music. If you put the american version into a Jap PS3 you will hear more electronic music vs a US PS3 will play disco. I guess developers are putting multiple versions on one disc. I personally think this is a good thing.

i was shocked at that too, shocked that manhunt 2 kills that are just like the one in assasins creed, except manhunt 2 is all blurred and censored but with the same rating? seems to be alot of inconsistancies with the rating system pretty much everywhere.

I think it is quite an achievement, that they fit one version with all languages and all jurisdiction dependencies on one disk. And all that is chosen fully transparent and dynamically at runtime. It has nothing to do with "modified", it just that the game adjusts itself to the local territory (region) set in the PS3. - And about the blood. Hey, respect each countries rules and culture, please.

I think that too.
But I wonder it is sort of a same situation of the hotcoffee.
GTA contains the hotcoffee but player can't access that function.
Some region's players play censored version but uncensored version is definitely there in their disc.

im live in Canada and my game looks exactly like the one shown in the utube video. We have no blood either and the screen turns white for me as he dies also. So your telling me in the US version there is blood?

Edit - I bought my PS3 at bestbuy in Canada and I am pissed because there is definately no blood in my version.

I got a US version's Unchated for my JP PS3. So I noticed this censor first time I played the Uncharted.
I don't like bursting blood in Entertainment as well as American do(lol sorry it's joke, little bit stereotype images to American).
So it's no problem, but damage indicator in white is silly change. It's innoticeable in litghter place of map.

But the same time, it surprised me that what a great localization work Naughty dog did(or SCE ? I don't know which comp led this).
Cuz US version's Unhcarted already has censored parts just only for Japan and has Japanese text, subtitle and voice language on one disc.
I guess konami will take a same way in MGS4's localization.

In the US version there's an option in setup for whether you want blood or not. So just because it may be off by default in Japan doesn't mean its locked out entirely. Check the setup system out and let us know.

I have a Jap. PS3 and was going to pick up Uncharted soon, but this F*cking sucks. There were still pools of blood in Ninja Gaiden in Japan (no decapitations though), so why not in this game? Surely I should be able to decide? This pisses me off almost as much as Ratchet's silly black eyebrows, what the phuck are these people thinking?

No blood what so ever certainly isn't very realistic.

They can still play the game, and I doubt that a lack of blood would affect it that much. If you didn't know it was missing you probably wouldn't notice anyway, it's not like it plays a major role to the gameplay or plot. This is likely just because they were going for a lower age rating on the game, nothing else.

The "they" you are referring to is Rockstar itself toning down Manhunt so it could get an M rating as opposed to an AO rating. If it gets an AO rating, it's screwed no matter where it goes.

That aside though, I'm pretty sure you'll see blood in Manhunt. I'll never play it though, because I hear it's mediocre at best. Gore doesn't equal great, apparently.
