Sony Needs a Hero for PlayStation 3

2nd hero= Snake

PS2 big hero=GTA 3 main character
2nd hero=Tidus

Edit: starting from PS3 heroes i see history repeating itself with N64 killing PS1 for 1 year and a half.....and then bam history repeates itself with Cloud and Snake

But in all honesty, the post doesn't really add anything new. Yes, Naughty Dog is owned by Sony, so that almost automatically knocks out the possibility of this game coming to the X360. Then the article goes to say that load-free times are possible with a hard drive, which not all X360's have. Also, they claim that it would be a a different game if it were ported. So what's the point of your post?

I have to agree in some part. I understand that this site, especially, is driven by fans of their corresponding system, but it's not necessarily just Sony fans. In all fairness, I think all system fans are guilty of the things you mention. However, you are in a lucky position to own all three consoles and that makes you a fan of gaming, which I commend.

that people would read. Unfortunately the loyal Sony droids waged an attack to get this news of the pending story list as quickly as possible. Most droids whom reported on this story did so 2 or 3 times each. Its sad. I know loyal PS3 owners are desperately waiting for a killer app so I guess I can understand where their need to sensor this type of news comes from. It makes me glad that I can enjoy all 3 consols and enjoy games like Drake and 360 exclusive with out blind allegiance getting in the way of my fun.

the only console that's in need of a hero will be the 360 next year what GeOW 2..Halo wars...??..yea then the hype dies down in the next two months after each game is released..!

the Wii has SMB coming next year
The PS3 has..too many "HEROES"..comin next year...!!

and the PS3 launched with a new Hero : Nathan Hale..!

Uncharted with anything less than a 10 is just plain ridiculous to me.

IGN giving the PS3 version of AC a lower score??? It's the best version, according to Ubisoft themselves!

Gamespot...let's just not.

How did Warhawk get bad reviews? Its user-base grows more steadily than Halo's. That's all my little brother and his friends do!

I agree with you. Most of those writers are columnists. They are obligated to write something. The problem, many of them are usually not fully aware of the topics they write about, giving they don't consider the fact that this industry grows quickly and things change sometimes overnight like when a game is released. About the hero thing, I don't think a console that needs a hero is a good console. A good console is that is well built with excellent specs and gives the user an advantage that is precieved as useful. So mario is Wii hero, Xboxs halo is their hero. But, Ps3 is it self is a hero that has many great games already released and more coming up.. Don't forget God of War ( the best game ever in my opinion, along with Halo 3).

I work at Gamestop.

I'm expecting a really big Wii line. (We're stock-piling obviously.)
I'm also expecting a pretty big PS3 line. (they'll sell out within minutes.)
The 360 line probably will just be for a bunch of games.

Kids don't want the old systems. They want the new PS3 or Wii.

BTW...don't buy your kids a Wii...to any parents out there.

They'll get bored within minutes. Seriously, it's a terrible decision. Mine is still sitting there.

If you're working at a gameshop, I can't understand your comment about the 360 having a line for getting games, when several analysts have indicated the 360 will outsell the PS3 at least 2:1 this Christmas.

With that logic, the line for buying a 360 will be twice as long as least as that one for the PS3.

Thing I agree on: don't get a Wii. UNLESS you like Super Mario and Zelda (and a lot of garbage minigames). I must say, for those really young kids it is an option though.

360 sold less... Uh right. You mean 550k in September/Oktober in USA compared to 100k to 130k a month in that same period?

The Wii has quite a few games that I've enjoyed:

LoZ:TP, MP3, BWii, And Wii Sports I suppose. That's more than enough for me, as I don't consider myself someone who lives to play games all day and doesn't have an attention span long enough to play one twice. However, I still have not gotten SMG, and SSBB will come out next year, accompanied hopefully by Disaster:Day of Crisis. Later on, there will be this new ruins RPG "Fragile" that looks interesting.

Your GAMESBLOW, remember? You know what Sony is doing with the PS2, outselling 360 last week by 33k in Europe (83k). It sold 2k less than wii. With the 73k the PS3 sold in EU last week, that's over 150k dualshocks/sixaxis's over that wiimote. PS3 is up in Europe and Japan. They may need a hero in america, but who needs a savior in Japan and a saint in EU? I think this is the last little blog/articles left about Sony's needs. You think they are going to keep quiet after Novemeber's WORLDWIDE numbers? Sony is smarter than we all think.

And I agree This moth is going to be good for Sony... but it's still not going to eclipse their competition. I see R&CFTOD sales have reached over 200,000 world wide on simexchange, so that bodes well for the rest of the month and into Christmas... but What Sony needs is their install base to actually buy games. I don't get what the hell people are buying for their ps3s? Blu-rays I suppsoe, since those numbers are incrediblky strong. It's almost as if everyone bought a ps3 for the blu-ray player and only 300 to 500,000 bought it to game with since hardly any games ever sell past 500,000 on the ps3. Resistance, Motorstorm are the only 2 that has sold 2 million units world wide.

R&CFTOD is expected to hit 1.10 million but that's by October of next year. So, really... sony needs to have a better strat invloved. I'm sure Insomniac doesn't mind waiting for it to hit a million units as Sony foots the bill for all the advertising and production cost, but it's still a little off putting to know Ps3 buyers aren't buying games for their systm near fast enough.

Also, if you want acurate numbers.. don't go to vgcharts... go to a stock exchange website for them. You'll get a bigger/better picture.

Games like Oblivion, Madden, and Nija Gaiden Sigma are close or well over 600k. EA said the PS3 version of FIFA accounts for 75% of sales in Europe! Ratchet & Clank, was only one day of sales in Japan reported for the entire week. It was released Nov. 11, and Heavenly Sword was released Nov.15.

360 had 100% of next gen market with no xbox 1. What did xbox owners have to buy other than the Fears and Saint's Row's? Oblivion (2 million) and Gears (over 4 million) were the phenomenal sellers of the bunch for 360 first year.

Sony is working with all new ip for PS3 year 1. Ratchet was the only familiar face. Drake, Ratchet, Warhawk, and Heavenly Sword will go multiplatinum soon..Drake being first to sell 2 million quick. I have no clue how many Warhawk's have been sold (has to be close to 1 million). I say PS3 did damn good on the games front than many would have you believe. Christmas will push these games very well. Time will tell all...but 2008......DMC4, MGS4, Disgaea 3 (japan), Tekken 6, GTAIV, see when those familiar faces pop up early 08 around the..well I don't want to gloat...mad PS3 games of 2008! We know the list!

Blu Ray is about to explode...it sure will help, not hurt at all...

I do believe Sony does need to cut ties to the PS2. Keeping the PS2 around is also letting develophers target Wii. If they dropped the PS2 would anyone even take a chance on making a game for the Wii knowing it just doesn't sell.
