No 'Mortal Kombat 8' for PC, Says MK Team

A news post on MK Online revealed a bit of interesting information over on Epic Games' website. As the next Mortal Kombat, aka 'Mortal Kombat 8', is currently being developed using Epic's Unreal Engine 3, a list of annouced games has 'Mortal Kombat 8' appearing on PlayStation 3, Xbox 360 and PC platforms.

Unfortunately for those looking forward to a PC version, it appears that this slip up is just that. TRMK received word from the MK Team that "right now we have no plans to put MK on PC."

Agreed. Hopefully with Midway's full multiplatform strategy that is bringing all it's games to all next-gen consoles and PC, MK8 could also appear on PC because a lot of old MK player and fans are now PC gamers.

I did not mean there are more PC gamers or console gamers or something.

What I meant is that a lot of people I know that used to play MK long ago back on arcades and Genesis are now sole PC users. A lot of other MK playing people I knew are now console players as well.

3 - This game will most likely suck anyways.

They really need to bring MK back to it's roots when it actually used to have an intuitive fighting sytem like parts 1,2,3, and even 4. Even though part 4 was terrible.

MK used to be about sweeps, uppercuts, and cat and mouse gameplay. Not to mention air attacks and counters, like how in the earlier versions you could use high kicks, roundhouses, and uppercuts to hit jumpkicks out of the air. Not to mention all of the air juggles.

Overall the fighting systems in all versions past part 4 were a joke. Mortal Kombat never made a good transition when it went to 3-D. Any real fan will tell you the same.

If 3D MK games were so bad then why and how did MK5:Deception and Deadly Alliance win best fighter of E3 in their years? Also, MK6:Deception is the highest rated western fighting game and got 8.8 from IGN and 8.5 from GameSpot.

I have been a hardcore fan of Mortal Kombat and fighting games in general ever since Mortal Kombat 1 hit the arcade scene. That was over a decade ago.

Despite what Reviews might say all the versions past part 3 were pretty much garbage. They took away all the core mechanics of Mortal Kombat after part 4.

They slowed it down and took away all of the air tactics. Not to mention all of the newer MK games have just been clones of MK5 which was garbage also. I own it.

Mortal Kombat: Deadly Alliance got high scores because it was some NEW to the NEW breed of consoles (Xbox, PS2). Mortal Kombat: Deception and Mortal Kombat: Armageddon got "high scores" as well but not because the fighting engine was good. It was because the MK Team shoved extra content into the two games to cover up for the mediocre fighting. Puzzle Kombat and Motor Kombat, anyone?

And what I find more amusing is that Mortal Kombat: Deadly Alliance played better than the sequels. How sad.

I gave up on the series, didn't even know it was up to 8 now. It was such a good game to start, but with the new combat system they might as well have changed the name also considering it is so different.

6 - Well, were I exclusively a PC gamer,

I wouldn't be disappointed in the least. The last 4 games have been complete disasters. The MK series as of late hes been an abortion to the fighting genre, just despicable.

I'll give it a chance if screens, video, and more importantly a DEMO impress me, but as of now...I'm not holding my breath.

I agree with statement made somwhere up^^^thataways that mk DA played better than the sequels. I still love mk though. I still play MK3 on snes(awesome)
